Italian Style Pork Chops

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2007
I decided to use regular bread crumbs instead of the saltines. The pork chops were wonderful and enjoyed by all. Thanks for the great recipe!

Devil's Steak Sauce

Reviewed: Sep. 28, 2007
Mmmm, this is good...a perfect balance between spicy and sweet. I used tomato paste instead of tomato sauce as another reviewer had suggested. This is a nice change from the usual steak sauces.

Old Fashioned Meat Loaf with Tangy Tomato Sauce

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2007
Instead of meatloaf, I used this recipe for meatballs and served the sauce over top. My husband really liked it. The kids liked the meatballs but not the sauce. The sauce was definitely tangy...it was a nice change of pace.

Cinnamon Hazelnut Biscotti

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2007
Way too sweet and not the right consistency for biscotti. The cinnamon also seemed out of place. I won't be making these again.

This is the BEST salad ever! Loved by everyone...even those who don't like spinach will go back for seconds, trust me.

Potluck Special

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2007
Loved everything about this meal...easy to prepare and tasted delicious...brought back memories of my father's german cooking. Don't skip the sauerkraut, it adds a wonderful flavor. Served with a spoonful of sour cream on top. A definite keeper, thanks!

Banana Meatloaf

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2007
As soon as I saw this recipe, I had to try it. It was deliciously fun to include banana in the meatloaf mix and I was secretly hoping for a cooking masterpiece. Alas, it was just OK. Good consistency, interesting flavor, but nothing really special about it so back to traditional meatloaf I go.

Absolutely loved it. I made this for a desert...served warm over top mini angel food cakes. Everyone raved about it, thanks!

Hamburger Spanish Rice

Reviewed: Aug. 14, 2007
This was OK. Scores high points because it's easy and economical...I had dinner on the table in less than 30 minutes, so that's great. Taste-wise I thought it was boring and a tad bland...perhaps some chili powder, hot sauce or cayenne pepper would help. I ended up topping it with grated parmesan cheese to make it more palatable. I may make this dish again if I'm in another time crunch but I certainly wouldn't serve it to dinner guests.

Chicken Fajita Pizza

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2007
Mmmm delicious...I made a few modifications though. Grilled the chicken, brushing with BBQ sauce. Didn't have salsa on hand so I used a can of pizza sauce and chopped up a tomato from my garden. No cumin or salt, added fresh basil. Used fresh mozarella cheese (a personal fave). My Mom said it was the best pizza she's ever tasted. Thanks for the great recipe idea!

Sweet and Sour Meatloaf

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2007
It was edible but I won't be making this one again. A boring meatloaf...lacking in all flavors except for sweet (oh my, the sugar is plentiful).

A Catering Company's Marinade

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2007
I used this on steak, marinating for three hours and it turned out OK. The meat was moist but it wasn't as flavorul as I had hoped. Tasted like mild beer and I was looking for some zing. I'm partial to more spicy marinades so I'll probably pass on making this again. Thanks though.

Gnocchi with Pesto Sauce

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2007
WOW, what a great dish! Added fresh garlic, basil, and ground pepper as personal touches but otherwise it's perfect. The whole family enjoyed it. I'm adding this recipe to my regular rotation and can't wait to make it again. Thanks!

Baked Ham Sandwiches

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2007
I never thought I would give a 5-star rating to a ham sandwich, but by golly this is good! I added a touch of minced garlic to the spread and it was delicious. Easy to make, quick to prepare and loved by both kids and adults. Thanks!

Romano Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2007
Great recipe! This dish is extremely quick and doesn't compromise on taste. I ended up having to adjust the cooking time to six minutes (every microwave will be different, I suppose). If you want a crisp coating on the chicken, put it under the broiler as other reviewers suggested. I also use prosciutto instead of ham, just my personal preference. Thanks for the quick meal idea!

Linguine with Peppers and Sausage

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2007
Looking at the recipe beforehand, I was worried about the lack of spices. So to prevent it from being too bland, I doubled the garlic, added parsley and basil, and used hot sausage. Even after those modifications, I was disappointed with the results. It was just too much red pepper for my liking...every bite was swimming in it and and it overpowered everything else in this dish (especially since there isn't much of a sauce here except for the wine). My italian husband is the biggest pasta lover I know, and he just said this was OK so I won't be making it again. Thanks though.

Basil Chicken over Angel Hair

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2007
I love this recipe. I used fresh garden tomatoes, tripled the garlic, added dried oregano, and omitted salt. Because the tomato mixture doesn't really make a sauce, I added 1 cup of white wine and just under a cup of chicken broth. Let everything simmer and it was simply delicious and light. The grated parmesan cheese is an essential finishing touch. I will definitely include this dish in my regular rotation. Thanks!

Veneto Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2007
Sorry to rain on the parade but I am only rating this a 2. Everything smelled divine as it was cooking and the chicken was very moist but...we just didn't care for the sauce at all. There was nothing to balance out the acidity of the tomatos, wine and vinegar. Those who really enjoy balsamic vinegar might like this dish. It just wasn't a taste that my family was in to.

Roast Potatoes

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2007
Easy recipe to prepare. I used fresh rosemary. It took about an hour in my oven for it to cook thoroughly. I'm giving it 4 stars because my husband really liked it. I thought it needed something extra, was a bit bland for my taste.
