Devil's Food Peanut Butter Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2002
These cookies are terrible. Who wants a cookie that only tastes good 5 minutes out of the oven and then proceeds to become as dry and brittle as a cracker? I baked these to give away as Christmas cookies and ended up throwing away the entire batch for fear that my friends would think I was a bad baker. Don't bother.

Todd's Famous Blueberry Pancakes

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2002
Can you say "YUM"? This is a top of the line blueberry pancake recipe. It always comes out perfect--fluffy, yet not cake-like. It's very moist with the blueberries; not a dry pancake at all. I even made it without the blueberries one time because we ran out, and it was delicious, too. But the blueberries put it in first gear! I've made it about a dozen times so far. Yes, the other reviews are correct in that you don't have to wait an hour to cook it--you don't even have to wait at all. They taste the same either way.

Almond French Toast

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2002
Delicious! The almond extract really makes the flavor of these amazing french toast. The sliced almonds added a delightful crunch. Be sure to cook it over low heat so that the thick slices cook completely. I didn't make a single change to the recipe and it came out awesome. One caution--I was surprised by how many people don't like nuts. My sister-in-law and my niece did not care for them, so they didn't like this dish. So next time, I'd ask people beforehand what their preference is. But for nut lovers, this dish is too marvelous to be believed.

Easy Stroganoff

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2002
More like hamburger helper than beef stroganoff. Easy to make but not an entree I would serve for company.

Strawberry Bread I

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2002
Yeeech! Awful. You cannot tell it's strawberry bread. The strawberries that you mix in cease to exist when it's done and all you're left with is heavy bread with a lot of nuts in it. Don't make it, you'll regret it. I threw it away after a slice.

Slow Cooker Taco Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2002
Not great, I'm afraid. Too watery and tart. I expected a more well rounded flavor. Will not make again.

Autumn Cheesecake

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2002
Well, call me a believer now. I'm now a part of the Autumn Cheesecake fanclub. I just served it for a dinner party and it was sensational! I enjoy cheesecake but will only have a small slice of it because it's so heavy and thick; this one I had 3 helpings of and I had to stop myself from getting another one. Seriously, my husband helped himself to numerous slices and couldn't stop raving about it. I've been burned from cheesecake recipes over the years--just too many not-so-great ones. I made the Better Homes & Garden praline pecan cheesecake last year (major effort) and it tasted gooey and way too cheesy. You felt like you had enough after the first bite. But this one...well, it's in another class. It's an exceptional cheesecake and I'm so happy "Stephanie" put the recipe online. Just a note: I got a little confused about whether or not to press the crust up the sides of the springform pan. Usually recipes specifically state to do that. This one didn't. So for you people trying cheesecake for the first time, you need to press the graham cracker crumbs onto the bottom and up the side of the pan to form the complete crust (maybe it's just me). And I used Fuji apples cut up very small, which gave it a crispness that I loved. Just do it!!!

Fresh Tomato Salsa

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2002
Excellent salsa! It is the bomb! I got tons of compliments on it. It's so fresh and AUTHENTIC. Don't forget the salt, though. I forgot the first time and it ended up just being a bowl of chopped tomatoes. :) This recipe is a keeper.

Fresh Tomato Basil Sauce

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2001
It look a long time, but it was worth it. Seeding 8 pounds of tomatoes is no quick task! It tastes like pomodoro sauce that you get in the italian restaurants--very light but full of tomato and garlic flavor. It makes a TON, something like 8-10 servings, but that's good because my husband can take it to work for lunch. I highly recommend you try it!

Chicken Lo Mein

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2000
It's really, really good! I mean REALLY good. The sauce is very authentic and the mushrooms are so tender and juicy. You can eat a BIG bowl of it and not feel too full. I love this recipe!

Well, I didn't like it. It was way too sweet. Overall, the recipe is a bust.
