About this Cook
I began cooking when I was a kid, my grandma would gather us kids around the table, and gave us each a job to do...such as measuring, etc. That continued throughout my childhood, and when I was in high school, I had the opportunity to attend a Commercial Foods course at the local vocational school. I've continued my love for cooking, and have enjoyed learning how to make the different dishes my husband likes, as he's Italian. In fact, after tasting my first attempt at his family's recipe for tomato sauce, he absolutely refused to buy the store-bought kind anymore!
My favorite things to cook
I like to experiment with different cuisines. My favorite is Italian at the moment...then again, I've only been married for 3 years, and there's sooo much to learn!
My favorite family cooking traditions
The holidays are the biggest cooking event in my family. Our Christmas preparations usually begin just after Thanksgiving. We make cookies: Chocolate Chip, Peanut Butter Kiss, Molasses for my grandpa, and the BIG cookie event, cut-out cookies! Then, the closer it gets to Christmas Eve (the big family celebration), we begin to make chocolate and peanut butter fudge and "Christmas Pudding" which is actually a potato based pudding with a cinnamon lemon sauce. I've also started a Thanksgiving tradition with my in-laws. Every year, I make either a Double-layer Pumpking Cheesecake, or Pumpkin Pies.
My cooking triumphs
Tomato Sauce, Chocolate Fudge Cake with Cherry Filling, Cake decorating....and, hopefully, homemade pasta....still waiting to try out my new pasta maker!
My cooking tragedies
I have to say there's been only one meal that my hubby and I couldn't eat, it was supposed to be a kind of cheeseburger macaroni dish, but I put too much cheese in it...other then that, the idea was a good one.
