Cheesecake Supreme

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2013
Absolutely fabulous! I followed the suggestions of most all of the other reviewers and cooked in a preheated oven at 200 degrees for 3 hrs & 10 minutes and let cool in the oven for 2 hours with the door cracked. Perfectly creamy all the way to the ends-no cracks and I did not use a water bath. It was a huge, huge hit! Very important to remember to have all your ingredients room temperature - the eggs & the whipping cream.

Thanksgiving Leftovers Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2013
I wasn't sure how I would like this casserole, but, boy was I surprised! Based on other reviews I added some poultry seasoning and garlic powder to the filling, but, other than that made exactly as the recipe stated. I used mayonnaise instead of miracle whip due to my personal preference. The casserole came together quickly and was hearty and flavorful. It tasted like a cross between a pot pie and a shepherd's pie. It is a nice change for your leftovers from your Thanksgiving meal. I would recommend serving gravy on the side.

Banana Crumb Muffins

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2013
We loved these muffins! I was looking for a quick muffin to make for company I had this weekend. The muffin was moist and flavorful and the crumble was perfectly golden & crunchy. Everyone loved them. I didn't have time to do a trial run on the muffins, so, I made changes based on the advice of other reviewers. I used 1/3 cup of oil instead of butter and added 3/4 tsp cinnamon and 1/4 tsp nutmeg. Great suggestions.

Garlic Herb Feta Cheese Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2013
Fabulous!! The oregano, rosemary and feta all came together and had a wonderful flavor profile. I did add my garlic cloves to the boiling water with my potatoes so we would have a little milder flavor. They mash perfectly in with the potatoes. I served with roasted lemon rosemary chicken and fresh green beans.

Turkey Joes

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2013
I didn't quite know what to expect from this recipe since it was made with ground turkey and used so much chili powder. I had never had a sloppy joe with chili powder before. I was pleasantly surprised and my husband kept telling me he would never know it was turkey. Very flavorful! The only thing I did differently was to add 1/2 of a chopped green pepper.

Corn and Jalapenos

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2013
This recipe was just ok for us. I really liked all the components in the dish, but, the frozen corn became slightly chewy. I cooked according to the recipe, but, maybe I just need to cook long enough to heat the corn and take off. I have made a similar recipe on AR using fresh corn and it is wonderful, but, it is not easy to find fresh corn in the winter. I will try this again, but, just experiment on cooking times and maybe even try a different brand of frozen corn.

Spicy Beef and Bean Enchilada Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2013
This recipe took some time to get together, but, it was very good. The only problem I had was with the black bean mixture. Once I added the enchilada sauce to the black beans it was a very thin soupy mixture. I had to add another full can of black beans to thicken it and then I had a ton left over. I would just add enough enchilada sauce to the beans to be a good spreadable consistency. Next time I will also make my own enchilada sauce because I would like the flavor better than the canned sauce. One suggestion is to wrap the bottom of your spring form pan in foil. That way if you have any leakage it won't get all over your oven. Also - when you warm tortillas they shrink, so, you may need to do a couple of tortillas per layer in order to fill your pan. Thanks for the recipe!

Best Pork Chop Marinade

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2013
Very easy to put together! I marinated overnight for about 10 hours. Pork chops were flavorful, moist, and tender. Thanks for the recipe!

Quick & Yummy breakfast! I scaled down the portion for just my husband and I and also added some baked tater tots to the wrap. The tater tots gave it a nice crunch!

Johnsonville® Chipotle Monterey Jack Cheese Chicken Sausage Quesadillas

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2013
I used the ingredients in the recipe, but, just prepared a little differently. I sautéed the onions, peppers, & sausage in a pan before adding to the quesadilla. Instead of broiling I just heated in a pan on the stovetop until the outside was lightly golden & crispy and the cheese was melted. I thought the chicken sausage was good, but, I wasn't crazy about the flavor of it in the quesadilla. I think I would prefer the sausage in one of the pasta dish recipes that are under the Johnsonville recipe section on AR.

Johnsonville Italian Sausage Sliders

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2013
Based on the suggestions from other reviewers I did a 50/50 ratio of Johnsonville sausage and ground beef. The first burger my husband and I tried with typical burger toppings tomato, lettuce, onion, & pickles. They were good , but, I thought they had a very strong sausage flavor to me that didn't seem to work with those toppings. The second burger we tried with mozzarella and some marinara. That burger was fabulous! I would definitely recommend, but, experiment with your toppings to see what you like.

Southern Sauce

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2013
I was looking for a quick sauce to serve with our sliders tonight and thought I would give this a try. I tried it as the recipe was written and it was a little too sweet for our taste. I added some more light mayo and mustard to help balance out the flavor. It was just ok for us.

Apple Chips

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2013
I was excited about trying this recipe because I love apple chips, but, this did not work for me. I cut them by hand, so, some were thicker and some were very thin (operator error - lol). The thinner ones did dry out and the ends curled up as the recipe stated, but, they stuck to the pan and would not come up even with a spatula. I was able to tear a few of the pieces off, but, the majority had to be soaked off and discarded. I was able to try the thicker slices that did not crisp up and the flavor was very good. Would not recommend this recipe unless you can find a way to keep them from sticking. I am not sure if greasing the pan would help or not.

Beautiful Baked Ziti

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2013
My husband was very pleased with this dish and loved the use of the Johnsonville sausage instead of ground beef. It was a nice twist putting garlic bread on top of the ziti. I would make this again, but, I would add some ricotta to the sauce mix next time for my personal preference.

Quick Greek Pasta Salad with Steak

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2013
Loved, loved, loved this! I omitted the black olives because my husband does not like them and the sunflower kernels because I didn't have any in my pantry. I grilled steak on the side and used the pasta as a side dish. The flavors of the sundried tomato, spinach, and feta worked perfectly together. This was a big winner in my house and I will definitely be adding this to my recipe book.

Bison Fajitas with Guacamole Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2013
Fabulous! I rubbed the steak in a little olive oil and rubbed fajita seasoning over steak. I grilled the entire steak and cut into slices so the meat did not overcook. The steak was tender and flavorful. I loved the guacamole salad. I will definitely be making it again to go with a variety of dishes. Thanks bison council for a great recipe!

Tomato Basil Pasta

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2013
I loved the flavors in the pasta and the brightness the fresh basil brought to the dish. I did make a vinaigrette instead of just using olive oil and garlic because we like the tang you get from the vinegar. To the olive oil and garlic I added 1/4 cup red wine vinegar, 1/2 tsp of Dijon mustard, 1 tsp of salt and some fresh cracked pepper. It was good warm, but, I think I will like it even better cold.

Grilled Tarragon Mustard Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2013
I tried the sauce before basting and liked the tanginess of sauce, but, I did not think the chicken had a lot of flavor after it was grilled. I think the chicken would benefit from marinating it in the sauce for several hours. There are a lot of great sauces & marinades on AR, so, I don't think I would make this one again.

Panzanella Salad with Bison Flank Steak

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2013
Loved this recipe! Panzanella salad is such a great way to showcase summertime vegetables and the fresh basil took it over the top! We had never tried buffalo before and we were pleasantly surprised how much we liked it! Flank steak can be tough and chewy and I was hesitant to make this without a marinade to tenderize it, but, I am glad I didn't. It was tender and had wonderful flavor. I used lemon pepper instead of regular pepper, but, prepared everything else according to the recipe. If you haven't tried buffalo - give it a try!

Grilled Turkey Cuban Sandwiches

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2013
This was a winner in my house! We liked the smoky hint you get from the cumin. All the components came together to be a very tasty sandwich. I loved using the grill as a Panini press. I used Torta rolls and the bread was perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I will definitely be using this method again for other sandwiches.
