White Chip Orange Cookies

My husband and I really liked the flavor of the cookie part. We both felt like it was missing something though. I will definitely make these again, but, next time I will either add some macadamia nuts or dried cranberries.

Jumbo Dark Chocolate Cookies

One word...YUMMY! These were so good! Very rich and very chocolatey! I used the entire bag of chips and cooked a little less than the suggested time. This resulted in a soft and chewy cookie with nice crisp edges.

Butterscotch Haystacks

I typically love butterscotch haystacks! This is the first time I have seen a recipe for it with the addition of marshmallows. I have to say I am not a big fan of the marshmallows in the recipe. This candy is very sweet and I think the marshmallows made it too sweet. I will stick with my standard recipe of adding cashews or mixed nuts in lieu of the marshmallows. They give a nice salty contrast to the sweetness of the butterscotch chips. This is also a great recipe to follow using chocolate chips instead of the butterscotch.

Porridge

Very easy to put together and a nice hearty breakfast on a cold day. I added a little brown sugar to the top because I thought it needed to be slightly sweeter. I did not care for the texture of the bananas cooked into the porridge. They were a little too mushy for my personal preference. I would make this again, but, add some dried fruit and nuts instead next time.

Slow Cooker White Chili

I was pleasantly surprised by this recipe! It was different than most white chilis I have had in the past and I actually liked it better. The use of the green salsa gave it a nice depth of flavor. Make sure when you are buying your green salsa you buy the salsa verde. There is also a green salsa in my store that I buy that is a pureed jalapeno salsa and is really spicy and a little bitter. The salsa verde is slightly spicy and has a nice tang from the tomatillas. I used yellow corn instead of white - but, otherwise made according to the recipe.

Bread and Butter Pickle Deviled Eggs

These deviled eggs were very simple to make and had a nice flavor. I really liked the addition of the chopped pickles. It gave them a nice sweet and tangy bite! I wasn't so crazy about the addition of the honey mustard, but, that is just my personal preference. I would probably just add a little yellow mustard instead next time.

Southern Deviled Eggs

These deviled eggs definitely reminded me of a traditional deviled egg that tends to be a little on the sweet side. I thought they were very flavorful and were well received in my house. I am not sure that I would use this exact recipe again only because of the use of the sweetened condensed milk. I typically only buy it for specific recipes and since this only uses 1/4 tsp or so I will need to find a use for the remaining before it spoils. I also added just a little more mayonnaise for our personal taste. Thanks for the recipe!

Moist Turkey Burgers

These turkey burgers were simple to put together and very tasty. I liked the carmelized onion flavor that came from browning the onions first instead of putting them in the burgers raw. There wasn't one particular flavor that stood out in these burgers - all the flavors combined just gave them a nice taste without being overpowering. They definitely were very moist!

Quick and Flavorful Vegetables

This recipe was a pleasant surprise! It was super, super easy to make and added a nice flavor. I only started with one packet of the Flavor Boost based on previous reviews and that was perfect for us. It added just enough flavor without too much salt.

Swanson® Ultra Creamy Mashed Potatoes

I thought this was a very good basic mashed potato recipe. I do think that it developed a greater depth of flavor by cooking them in the chicken broth. This will be a tip that I use in the future. I read that some people had a problem that the potatoes turned into "glue" or "paste". I didn't have that problem at all. I used yukon gold potatoes, so, not sure if that made a difference or not.

Campbell's® Green Bean Casserole

I used my husband as my "guinea pig" since I am not a fan of green bean casserole and I felt like I couldn't give an honest opinion for this review. He thought this was just ok. It was a little milky and didn't have as much flavor as we would have liked. I think if you like green bean casserole this is a good recipe to use as a starter point, but, it will need a little bit of tweaking.

Praline-Pumpkin Mousse Cornucopias

This was so much fun to make and such an elegant looking dessert! As others stated the directions in making the cornucopias was very clear and so easy to make. The mousse had a nice flavor and wasn't overly sweet in comparison to the caramel sauce. I think the puff pastry horns would be so versatile. Pefect for filling with a vanilla creme to make a cream horn or a chocolate mousse.

Emily's Famous Hash Browns

This really did give me restaurant style hashbrowns! The outside was golden and crispy and the inside was soft and creamy. For additional flavor I added some garlic powder and cayenne pepper. The only thing I did differently was not use nearly the oil as stated in the recipe due to many reviews saying they were greasy. Plus - I really didn't want the excess oil. I used just enough to lightly cover the bottom of the pan and made sure it was rippling hot before I added the hashbrowns. I then turned the temp down slightly so they wouldn't burn. When I flipped I didn't add any additional oil. The second side didn't have quite the golden crispy texture since it didn't have any extra oil, but, we still liked it and saved on some of the fat.

Hamburger Steak with Onions and Gravy

This was perfect on a cold, dreary, rainy day! Real comfort food! I used dried minced onion instead of onion powder. I also added a few shakes of A1 to the sauce because my husband is an A1 fan. I made the gravy as directed with the addition of some sliced baby portobellos. I will definitely be making this again.

Individual Vanilla Cheesecakes

I had high hopes for this recipe since the reviews seemed to be so high. The recipe was very easy to put together and cooked in exactly the 20 minutes that the recipe stated. We were not a fan of the texture of this recipe. I was expecting more of a cheescake texture and they were more cakey. It is possible part of this was because of the vanilla wafer crust that baked into the filling.

Individual Pumpkin Pies

Personally, I am not a fan of pumpkin pie, so, my husband was the reviewer on this recipe. He thought it tasted like a traditional pumpkin pie and had a nice texture. He was not a fan of the vanilla wafer as the crust. It did take me an extra 25 minutes to cook than the recipe stated, so, I had had to babysit it every 5-6 minutes to be sure it didn't overcook.

Creepy Mini Pizzas

These are such a cute idea for kids. You can just lay out the ingredients and let their imaginations run! They dough was easy to put together, but, mine was way too wet. I had to add quite a bit of flour to form a soft ball. I was not crazy about how the bottom crust cooked, but, it would probably be better on a pizza stone.

Chocolate-Filled Crescents

Yum, yum, yum! These are so easy to get together and decadent! I mixed some softened cream cheese with a little powdered sugar and spread a thin layer on the crescent triangle. I then added the chocolate chips and slightly pressed into the cream cheese. I rolled from the big end and made sure the open ends were facing up once rolled. This recipe is so versatile! You could fill with just about anything. I think some nutella and chopped hazelnuts would be amazing! Give these a try!

Tuna Salad Crescents

I was excited about trying these based on the reviews I read. I have to say though that this recipe really didn't work for my family. The recipe was very easy to put together and baked beautifully in about 14 minutes. However, we thought the sweetness of the crescent roll didn't work with the tuna. I think it is strictly a case of our own personal taste, because, it seemed that some people liked the contrast of the sweet crescent and salty tuna. I would not make these again.
