I hate to be mean, but this just wasn't good. It was too saucy, and because the meat and sauce weren't separate, it was impossible to alter the meat to sauce ratio. We layered it exactly the way the recipe said to, and ended up with a huge amount of meat sauce left over. Even then, the final lasagna had too much sauce, not enough noodles, and couldn't hold its shape. Not only that, but all it tasted of was tomato, which overpowered even the cheese! The fennel seeds were a nice touch, but there wasn't near enough of it, or of the other spices. I think I will have to stir up the leftovers, put in some macaroni and more spices, and turn it into a pasta bake. Too bad, I had high hopes for this one.
