About this Cook
I have been a full-time mom since 1993, and have learned to cook purely by research, making huge messes, and trial and disaster. I am also an artist, so everything that I do is held to extreme self-scrutiny. I am also a terrible insomniac, and will spend, literally, an entire day in the kitchen, making every detail of an upcoming family meal perfect, right down to the sauces and spreads. And I love the appreciation on my family member's faces when they take that first bite. Not something one often sees as a full-time mom... ;)
My favorite things to cook
Everything. The more complicated, the better! We almost never have the exact same thing twice. I read cookbooks, websites, reviews, and am always changing and adapting the foods that I create.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family gets together to make lefse every fall, in memory of my favorite grandmother. Lots and LOTS of lefse.

Provincial Tomatoes
These were very, very good! I used a bit of Greek seasoning, and I added a dash of freshly ground pepper blend. Also, for added quickness, just lightly sprayed them with olive oil cooking spray. For the crumbs, I used panko and just the smallest amount of crushed french fried onions. Will make again and again, trying different combinations of seasonings and cheeses. :)

Allspice Cream Cheese Frosting
This is an awesome frosting recipe for spice cakes! I used it on a banana spice cake also found on this site. I used an 8 oz block of cream cheese, and the result was a rich, creamy, slightly spiced frosting. Mmmm... I didn't even let my kids lick the bowl this time. It was MINE. :)

Sweet Dinner Rolls
These rolls are simply amazing. They come out perfect every single time. I do not have a bread machine, so I prep the yeast in the warm water and about a Tbsp of the sugar. Then, I warm the milk and butter to about the same temp in the microwave. When the yeast is frothy, I stir in the warmed milk, butter, egg, remaining sugar, and salt. I then add in the flour, one cup at a time, kneading in the last cup by hand. Form into a ball, cover, and place in a warm spot until the dough has doubled. It takes about an hour. Then, simply proceed with the recipe from Step 2. I make these rolls at least twice a month. My kids inhale them, expecially when I serve them with gravy or honey-butter. The crescent shape is worth the extra effort, as it adds to the texture and charm of this wonderful, soft bread. Going to try them as cinnamon rolls next. Thank you for this 5 star recipe!
