About this Cook
The only cooking i have ever done was VERY simple until i moved in with my boyfriend 2 years ago. Until then i was grossed out by the sight of raw meat and refused to touch it. When we started living together i missed my mothers cooking so unless i went to visit her everyday to eat her dinner, i had to start cooking myself. Now i enjoy cooking and love to try new recipes. I am no longer disgusted by raw meat.
My favorite things to cook
Since i am fairly new at cooking i will try almost anything.
My favorite family cooking traditions
As i was growing up, my father cooked breakfast every Sunday morning for my mother and I. I don't live home anymore but he still makes breakfast for my mother, and i now make breakfast for my boyfriend. I plan to carry that tradition when i start a family.
My cooking triumphs
No one has really taught me how to cook, but i have been told that i haven't made one thing that wasn't good. I don't think cooking is a natural talent for me, i think finding great recipes is my talent.

Chipotle Cream Chicken
This was easy to make and very yummy. I didnt bread the chicken because i feared it would get soggy before my husband got home. I also added about 1 TBSP of chipotle sauce from the can of peppers because we like spice! I also added a lil bit of flour to thicken the sauce and served over egg noodles. The husband LOVED it.

Lemon Garlic Tilapia
This was only my second time preparing tilapia and i thought it was wonderful. I did double the butter/lemon mixture and used fresh parsley and extra garlic. I upped the heat to 400 and thought 12 min would be fine but it was undercooked. I ended up cooking it for 20 minutes and even stuck it in the broiler for a few minutes. I probably ended up overcooking (im still nervous when cooking fish) but i actually really liked the finish product. This is a keeper.

Red Skinned Potato Salad
This is really good basic potato salad. I thought it was missing something and my grandmother (who is a wonderful cook) said to mix a little sugar and white vinegar in the mayo. I will try that next time. This recipe is a great place to start!
