Honey Mustard Beer Brats

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2007
Pretty good. We have 3'foot snow drifts, so we couldn't grill outside. Instead, I pan grilled the brats on the stove before putting them in the crock pot. I used nearly 4, 12 oz cans of bear and added sourkraut to the onions and peppers. Liked the liquid smoke flavor.

Best Green Bean Casserole

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2006
This was okay. Definitely needs some salt. I'll probably omit the cheese next time, or at the very least, not put any on top. It made the onions chewy instead of crunchy.

Garlic Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2006
We just had this for dinner tonight. Very good dish and easy, too! I doubled the plain bread crumbs and cheese and added the following to the mixture (approximates as I don't measure): 1 1/2 TBS oregano; 2tsp basil; 2 tsp red pepper; 2 tsp onion powder and 2 tps garlic powder. A little salt and pepper. I also increased the amount of garlic with the olive oil. Crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. The family loved it. This is a keeper!

Blue Cheese Crusted Filet Mignon with Port Wine Sauce

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2006
This was just "okay" for us. I may try this again by tweaking it some. We enjoyed it, but were not wowed by it. Of course, we've been spoiled by the smothered filet recipe from this site (fantastic!) and so far, I've not found anything that can beat that recipe.

Raspberry Trifle

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2006
I just made this for a dinner party we're going to tonight and put some off to the side for my husband and I to try in case it didn't work out. I couldn't wait to write a review! WOW!! We both loved it and it hasn't even set yet for the 4 hours in the refridgerator as suggested! A couple of things I did: I used 3, 8oz pkgs of cream cheese as others suggested and increased the sugar and other ingredients accordingly. I also used 2 cups heavy cream as other suggested. I used regular pound cake from the store and drizzled grand marnier over the slices. Instead of using cocoa, I used dark chocolate chunks sold in the baker's isle. For the raspberries, I used 2, 12 oz frozen packages. As they were thawing, I added about 1/4 cup of water so I would have more syrup to pour over the cake slices, and sprinkled the raspberries with sugar. On the top, I garnished with a couple of raspberries and dark chocolate chunks and then did sift just a little bit of cocoa on the top layer only. YUMMY! And it looks fabulous in the trifle dish. If the others at the party like it half as much as we did, it will be a huge hit. Thanks for sharing this recipe!

Shrimp Linguine Alfredo

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2006
I'm giving this 4 stars because I did change quite a few things. I used jumbo, frozen shrimp. I cooked that with the butter, garlic and onion. Like others, I used 1/2 cup butter. Once the shrimp was cooked through, I removed it and made the sauce by adding the cream and cheese. I also used heavy cream because that was all I had on hand. The sauce was pretty watery, so I cooked it a little longer to thicken it up. I didn't have any cornstarch on hand. After about 20 minutes, it was just right. I also added some red pepper for a little kick and a pinch of salt when I returned the shrimp to the sauce. It took a little longer to cook than the recipe called for but it came out great and is pretty easy and quick to make.

Garlic Herb Grilled Pork Tenderloin

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2006
This was pretty good and very easy to make. I recommend watching this very closely on the grill to prevent over-cooking. Our 5 1/2 pound loin was done in about 45 minutes. Although it was a little too crispy on the outside, the inside was moist and delicious.

Strawberry and Feta Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 26, 2006
We really like the combination of flavors on this salad. I added just a bit of white sugar to the dressing as I found it to have too strong of a vinegar taste for my liking. Very good. I'll definitely make again.

Chicken Piccata II

Reviewed: Aug. 26, 2006
We're big veal piccata fans, but since no veal was available at the grocery today, we decided to try this recipe with chicken very thinly sliced. I thought it was okay, my husband liked it better than I did. I did add about 2 tbs. of capers and doubled the sauce. I also added a bit more lemon juice (after doubling for added sauce) and felt it could have used even more for my liking I took the advice of other reviewers and made the sauce separate from the chicken, so we had no problem with the coating coming off. I'll probably try this again and add a bit of white wine to the sauce.

I don't what I could have done wrong since this really isn't a recipe in my opinion, but this may be the most bland dish I've ever eaten.
