Bev's Chocolate Pie

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2012
Wanted to make a chocolate pie for an upcoming potluck. I always test new things on my family and close friends first. This was aweful. Out of 7 people who tried it, no one like it. Tasted like cocoa powder and not the yummy creamy chocolate like I am used to in a good chocolate pie. Ended up finding a recipe that called for bakers chocolate and that was a hit.

Orange Meringue Pie

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2012
Made this for a potluck. It was one of the first desserts to go. Everyone loved it. Very fresh and different without being too way out there or weird.

Spiced Bacon Twists

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2012
Had some candied bacon at a Christmas party and just had to have some for New Years. I used thick cut bacon and they came out perfect. My youngest who doesn't like to try new things just loved them. My teen daughter suggested we drizzle them with dark chocolate next time. We will be making them again.

Cheese-Stuffed Jalapenos

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2012
Had these at a Christmas party and just loved them. The lady had used a small dot of a sweet BBQ sauce on each which makes them so much better. I made these for New Years and everyone raved. I WILL be making them again and again.

Grandma's Corn Pudding

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2011
Made for Thanksgiving dinner. No one liked it. I don't consider this a pudding. It was like corn suspened in eggy gelatin.

White Almond Wedding Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2011
This was a really great cake. I need to do a wedding cake for a friend on short notice and used this recipe. It turned out amazing. They wanted one of the layers to be strawberry so I omitted 3 tablespoons of sour cream and added 3 tablespoons for fresh strawberry puree and 2 teaspoons of strawberry extract instead of the vanilla and almond. It was the best strawberry cake I have ever tasted. I will use this recipe for more cakes in the future.

Grandma Ople's Apple Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2009
It was amazing! I used a mixture of different apples so I would have different textures in the pie. It very much reminded me of apple dumplings without all the trouble of trying to wrap apples. I took it to a Scout Roundtable meeting along with 3 other pies I made and it was a big hit.

Mrs. Sigg's Snickerdoodles

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2007
The best snickerdoodles ever. I tripled the batch since I had to take cookies to several places this week. Everyone loved them. I did make extra cinnamon sugar mixture as suggested and glad I did. This one will go in my holiday book so I can make this a new tradition for my family. They were so easy and fun to make.

Creamy Caramel Flan

Reviewed: May 5, 2006
I used half as much cream cheese for fear it being too much like cheese cake. It did take a little longer in my oven that what it called, but that was not a big deal. I let it rest over night and then got a lovely site as it came out perfect on the plate when it turned it over. It was a huge hit with everyone. Will make again. Just don't get in a hurry trying to get the sugar to melt. It takes a bit of time and perfection with surgar takes patients.
