About this Cook
Born and raised a southern girl, met and married a northern boy. SAH Mom to 3 wonderful, smart, and beautiful kids. I love to come up with recipes and fix them for friends and family. Cub Scout Den Leader, Cub Scout District Comm. memeber, Cub Scout Roundtable Commish., the list goes on and on. Always doing something for the kids.
My favorite things to cook
Since I finally learned how to make a great cheesecake. I would have to say I love cooking those the most. Really anything that makes someone say "OMG that is soooo good". I just love to sit back and watch people enjoy good food, even if they have no idea I was the one who fixed it.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every year we go to a market about 30+ minutes from our house and pick out pumpkins. Then we have a night where were design and carve them. Make treats like carmel apples and drink cider and cocoa. That has so be my favorite night of the year.
My cooking triumphs
I love entering in local cooking contest and the county fair. The day I won best of show pie at the fair, with my Pecan Pie, I cried and laugh at the same time. That year I took home a huge hand full of ribbons for my baking. The following spring I entered a local food expo and won best of show pie with my Berry Bliss and first place with a VERY healthy banana nut cake. That win helped me get my cake recipe and photo featured in the local paper's, cook's corner. In 2008 I took home the Showcase prize for getting the most points in the baking at the Wood County Fair. If anyone lives close by, come see me at the fair, I'll be the one entered in almost every catagory.
My cooking tragedies
The first meal I ever cooked for my husband. We were dating at the time. I was going to make him stirfry and to this day I don't know what happened but it was so bad that after the first bite we just looked at each other, kinda smiled, and then went out for fast food.

Bev's Chocolate Pie
Wanted to make a chocolate pie for an upcoming potluck. I always test new things on my family and close friends first. This was aweful. Out of 7 people who tried it, no one like it. Tasted like cocoa powder and not the yummy creamy chocolate like I am used to in a good chocolate pie. Ended up finding a recipe that called for bakers chocolate and that was a hit.

Orange Meringue Pie
Made this for a potluck. It was one of the first desserts to go. Everyone loved it. Very fresh and different without being too way out there or weird.

Spiced Bacon Twists
Had some candied bacon at a Christmas party and just had to have some for New Years. I used thick cut bacon and they came out perfect. My youngest who doesn't like to try new things just loved them. My teen daughter suggested we drizzle them with dark chocolate next time. We will be making them again.
