I am in my mid-20's. My Mother enjoys cooking and Baking, I however do not. My Mother did teach my sister and me how to cook and we are good cooks, but I just don't like to cook or bake.
My favorite things to cook
My favorite family cooking traditions
I do not really have any traditions from my childhood, but I am trying to work with my husband in establishing family cooking traditions, and special meals for certain holidays...especially Thanksgiving and Christmas. So far for Valentine's Day, we have made fondue for dinner and dessert. And for our wedding anniversaries, I have baked a different kind of cake each year.
My cooking triumphs
Our second Thanksgiving as a married couple, I made a full Thanksgiving dinner for the two of us. Growing up, my family did not celebrate Thanksgiving so it was never anything I cared to attempt. We had a pecan encrusted turkey with most of the sides. My husband insisted on helping with something, so I let him make the horseradish mashed potatoes...he should have stayed in the other room and watched football like I told him to.
My cooking tragedies
Once when I was a teenager, I forgot to put the eggs into the cake I was baking.

No-Mayonnaise Ranch Dressing
Great substitute! I personally do not like mayo and I do not like the taste of the store bought ranch. When preparing this, I did not use salt and I used tarragon instead of chives (I didn't have any). I will make this again.

Drew's World Famous Triple Rush Hot Chocolate
This was excellent, nice and thick and rich. Nothing like the watery powder mix from the grocery store. I have been looking for a hot chocolate recipe like this. I had all the ingredients on hand (except for heavy cream…I really wanted whipped cream on the top)!! I added about ½ tablespoon of chili powder and only a smidge of cold milk. It is almost 95 degrees outside today, I cannot wait till it is cold and snowy to really enjoy this!

Chicken Stuffed Shells
I have prepared this dish twice already. My husband really likes it for breakfast instead of dinner because of the protein and carbs. I can’t seem to find the big shells, so I use manicotti—which is a bit difficult to stuff! When I bought the ingredients, I bought two cans of the chicken broth but ended up using only one can. I thought that the soup mixture would have been too runny and I wanted the mixture to be more of a gravy. I also added a bit of the gravy to the stuffing and chicken before I stuffed the manicotti. I put the rest of the gravy on top before it goes in the oven. I also did not add salt or garlic powder. This recipe reheats fine.
