I love to bake. Anything from cookies to pies to sticky buns.
My favorite family cooking traditions
At christmas time, my parents will have a party at their house for our family. Since I was about 16, the deserts have been left to me. So every year, I'll start a few days before...often times finishing in the wee hours of christmas morning.

Extreme Banana Nut Bread 'EBNB'
This recipe is great! Easy to assemble, and baked beautifully. The only changes I would make would be to reduce the salt to 1/2 tsp. I also added 1/2 tsp cinnamon, and 1 tsp vanilla. The bread is moist and delicious. Will definitely make this again in the future!

Awesome Carrot Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting
I found this recipe years ago, and have been making it ever since! I make this cake every year for Thanksgiving and Christmas, and my family LOVES it. I did change a few things: 1. I beat the eggs seperately, then gradually add the oil....whisking until light in color. Then I add the pinapple, carrots, and nuts, and mix. I mix the flour, sugar, and spices together in a seperate bowl, and gradually add to the wet mixture. I find this makes for a lighter, fluffier cake. 2. For the icing, I use 1 stick unsalted butter, and 1/2 "brick" of cream cheese. Makes for a lighter, creamier icing. Also, because of the pineapple, this cake MUST be kept refrigerated...the moisture from the pineapple will make it go bad quickly if not kept at a cool temperture...

I am not a pecan pie fan...but I made this for some friends of mine for thanks giving last year, and it turned out great! They loved it, and requested another...
