Beer Bread II

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2015
Just made this bread with a few minor modifications and I love it!! I used sprouted whole wheat flour because that's all I have and added the appropriate amounts of baking powder and salt to make it self-rising. I used olive oil instead of melted butter and it came out with a lovely crispy crust. I cut the sugar to only 1 teaspoon because I don't care for savory breads that are even a little sweet and it didn't affect the outcome negatively at all. Finally, being vegan, I used Daiya vegan shredded cheese instead of cow milk cheese. I did it all in the food processor because I was too lazy to mix it by hand, so the cheese and green chiles were kind of pureed into the batter and not as chunky as it might have been intended, but the bread still has an amazingly buttery, cheesy, savoriness, and the scent of the chiles wafting off of it as it came out of the oven was HEAVENLY!

Outstanding biscuits. They rise high, and taste delicious. This will be my go-to recipe for biscuits from now on! Thanks!

Turkey Tetrazzini II

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2012
I like this recipe because the bechamel sauce is from scratch, not from a can, so it just tastes cleaner. I've never made tetrazzini before and my boyfriend and I loved it. I didn't have enough parmesan so for the balance of the cheese I just used cheddar, which was delicious. I thought salting the pasta water and the cheese would provide enough salt but, next time I think I'll just add a teaspoon of it.

Chicken Pot Pie IX

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2011
This was so hearty and delicious! The perfect thing for a cold winter day; so comforting. I was looking for a recipe that didn't call for a canned cream soup and this is it. Whenever I have leftover roast chicken this will definitely be one of my go-to recipes. (Only drawback was my boyfriend couldn't stop eating it and wound up with a stomach ache haha.)

Sour Cream Coffee Cake III

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2008
I was a little disappointed with this cake. There was very little rise in the cake (I made sure not to overmix the batter so I don't think it could have been that), and I found it way too sweet. It's not a bad cake for a real sweet-tooth, but I like more of a soft, moist, crumby coffee cake, and this was very dense and sugary.

Jewish Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2008
I really liked this recipe! The cake was moist and had just the right amount of sweetness (not too sweet, which I don't like). The house was filled with the smell of warm cinnamon... I make a cake or muffins every Sunday night for a quick breakfast my husband can grab in the mornings and he loved this cake.

Best Ever Meatloaf I

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2006
I loved this meatloaf. I'm on Weight Watchers Core and this was perfect. I added a little garlic powder and ketchup and kept everything else the same. The oats worked out perfectly too. The smells that wafted through the house when it was in the oven reminded me of when I was little and my mom was making something cozy and yummy for supper!

4H Banana Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2005
This recipe is the one I will always make for the most delicious banana bread! I changed almost nothing in the recipe to make it work for me: I followed the ingredients exactly, including the walnuts. It had the perfect moistness (not mushy or gooey) and the perfect banana-y-ness. Because I increased the recipe to make two loaves, I lowered the temperature to 325 and baked for about an hour and 20 minutes. It came out a perfect golden brown. I was overjoyed because, frankly, I'm not the best baker! Thanks for the fantastic recipe!
