I grew up on a farm, where there were always plenty of mouths to feed. My mom always did a prenty good job of making sure there was lots of food about.

Bread, the slower the rise, the better.

My parents are maple syrup producers, so pancakes, or french toast were always popular items.
My cooking triumphs
Perfecting my bread making technique. Well, it's still not perfected, but it's a lot closer.
My cooking tragedies
Figuring out what to cook for my girlfriend. She is lactose intolerant, won't eat pork, and can't digest beef. I grew up on a dairy farm, so everything was beef and cheese. I'm being forced to cook nearly vegan meals, and it's hard when you love meat.

Crusty White Bread
For a whole year I refused to buy bread, and only made my own. This is the only bread recipe I used and quickly commited it to memory. This dough yields excellent rolls for bun-style sandwhiches, too.

Beer Batter Fish Fillets
As someone else commented, I did have a problem with it sticking. I think it's just because my deep fryer is rather small, though. I also accidently grabbed the wrong bottle of beer from my fridge without checking and used a beer that I don't like. Was still pretty good, but I find it's always best to use a beer you like. Also worked very well on onion rings.

Jay's Signature Pizza Crust
This is the first thing I've baked while living on my own. Wasn't sure how big a giant pizza was, so I ended up having far too much crust on my pizza, but I reduced the recipe for my second attempt and it turned out very well. Even though the pizza was half crust the first time, it was still wonderful.
