Best Brownies

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2013
I'm going to re-review this recipe. I made it last night and it turned out alright. The brownies didnt seem to rise much and the finished product seemed to have a lot of bubbles. I doubled this recipe as others had suggested and a 9 x 13 pan was just fine for these. The brownies without the frosting were way to salty. Like I said, I doubled the recipe, so that meant I doubled the salt too. Next time I will use 1/4tsp only. I decided to add frosting to these to see if it would improve the taste and cover up some of the bubbles in the brownies. Adding the frosting helped with overall sweetness and reduced some of the saltiness. I did have to add milk to the frosting as well. I will make this one more time in the future. If it does not turn out I will stick to boxed brownies forever.

Crazy Cake

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2012
Great cake! I made this for one reason, I had no baking powder on hand and I needed to make a cake fast! I remembered having this once before and I knew that the vinegar would be my "baking powder" for the moment. I turned this recipe into about 23 cupcakes (1/4 cup batter). At the party, I watched these cupcakes go one by one and I even saw people go back for a second. Great! I will use this again!

Best Buttercream Frosting

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2012
I give this recipe 5 starts! I needed a frosting recipe that did not require powdered sugar because I did not have any on hand. I must say that I am impressed with the way this turned out! (AND.. my husband loved it!) You need to beat your butter/sugar mixture for a very long time. If you have any graininess in your butter/sugar you need to beat it some more. Follow this recipe to a "T" and you'll have great tasting frosting! Will use again!

David's Yellow Cake

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2012
Well... This was yummy. Really yummy! However, my cake (cupcakes actually) came out flat. I did not have the exact ingredients on hand so I had to improvise. I will try this again because it was so good (and I will be sure to follow the recipe exactly!).

Cherry Pie III

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2011
What a GREAT tasting pie AND it was super easy. I took the advice of others and changed a few things. I used 3 cans of Oregon Fruit Cherries. I cooked 2 cans and folded in 1. I also used a Pilsbury Pie Crust and it turned out superb. This pie has great flavor. Next time I will NOT cook the cherries in sugar, but I will make a thick sauce from cornstarch, sugar and syrup from 1 cherry can. THEN, I will fold in the cherries and bake it. This will prevent the cherries from becoming mush after the stove top cooking process. I will make this again and hope for 5 stars. If you have fresh cherries as the recipe calls for, this will be picture perfect. I hope that helps!

Too Much Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2011
Simply AMAZING. I did not change a thing in this recipe. Serve with dusted powder sugar and strawberries for garnish. This also makes great cupcakes, just cut down cooking time to about 20 minutes (toothpick test, as always). Everyone loved the cupcakes I made for my daughters 1st birthday. Great recipe, it's a keeper!

Italian Dressing Mix

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2011
Fabulous Italian Dressing Mix. I used 2 tsp. of salt and I feel that this dressing had enough flavor. For best results and best taste, prepare 24 ahead of time. Really yummy! I may consider this my "Italian Seasoning" too. Enjoy! :)

Boiled Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2011
Great recipe! This works well with chicken breast too. I recommend that the chicken be thawed for even cooking. Because I did not have all ingredients, I had to improvise. I used 1 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp celery salt, 1/8 tsp garlic powder and 1/4 onion powder. This turned out great! This one is a keeper!

GREAT RECIPE! This one is a keeper. These pancakes turned out light and fluffy, just the way they are supposed to be. To adjust to my personal taste I will add an extra 1 tbsp. sugar and less salt. Enjoy! :)

American Lasagna

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2010
Delicious! As a basic recipe, I give this 5 stars. Of course we modify a recipe to what we have in our kitchen. I followed this exactly plus or minus a few things and I also added extra sauce. I will always use this recipe when I make lasagna if that says anything to you. Very good! Enjoy!

Lola's Horchata

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2010
Good for a basic recipe. Like other reviewers, you need to adjust this to your own personal taste. I doubled the recipe, added only 1 cup of sugar and strained out the cinnamon (which left the perfect amount of cinnamon to taste). The milk I doubled and also added some cream, because that's what I had. :) My husband loved how I adjusted the taste and next time I will soak this over night! Good recipe... I'd say 3 stars.

Blueberry Buckle

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2009
This is "The Best!". Follow this recipe exactly because it turned out great. The ONLY recommendation is to watch your cook time. Cooking this in an 8X8 pan for 25-30 minutes is not enough. I'd give it 40+ minutes. Just be sure to check it with a toothpick. Aside from the extra cooking time needed, this Blueberry Buckle recipe is better than store bought or anything else Ive had! Totally de-lish!

Garbanzo Bean Chocolate Cake (Gluten Free!)

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2009
Somehow, I happened to stumble upon this recipe and was curious about it. The reviews all seemed to say good things so I decided to try it. This chocolate cake is great! I LOVE that its made from garbonzo beans because you get more nutritional benefits compared to regular flour. The taste is good once they have cooled. So, let the cool completley and enjoy!
