About this Cook
I am an administrative assistant with a passion for food. I enjoy all aspects of food from purchasing the ingredients to putting the dishes together to eating it. I'm a regular foodie. I love to bake and decorate cakes as well as cook. I have been cooking and creating recipes since elementary school, and I don't plan on stopping anytime soon.
My favorite things to cook
I love cooking lots of things. My favorite thing to do is experiment and create new recipes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every year for Thanksgiving each member of the family is assigned to bring a dish as their contribution to dinner/dessert. I enjoy sampling the new desserts or dishes that people have come up with.
My cooking triumphs
I won the grand prize of $3,000 in the 2005 IGA Hometown Holiday Recipe Challenge in Chicago.
My cooking tragedies
I followed a cake recipe without questioning it when it called for 3 tablespoons of salt. The cake was so salty I had to toss it and start all over.

Apple Squares
I made these bars last night, and they were a big hit with my colleagues. I substituted pears for the apples, and I also doubled the batter part of the recipe so that it would fit in a 9 x 13 in pan. I did not double the cinnamon sugar topping as it was plenty. Actually, I thought it was a bit much. I might leave it off next time I make these. Thanks for sharing this recipe!

Creamy Pear Pie
I made this recipe as is, and it was delicious. I think next time I will try adding nuts to the topping to give it a little crunch.

Strawberry Bread
This recipe was very good, and I only made a couple minor adjustments. I used 3 cups of diced strawberries instead of 2. I did mash 1 cup of the strawberries. I only used 1 cup of oil since I added an extra cup of strawberries. I made some strawberry peach butter to go along with this bread. It was a huge hit at work. Thanks so much!
