As the oldest of four children, I became the head cook in my family after losing my mother at the age of twelve. I have 35+ years of cooking for a large family. My siblings and their families, come to my house for holiday meals and are always happy and full when they leave.
My favorite things to cook
My husband has a great sweet tooth, and I love making desserts for him.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Thanksgiving, my family's biggest meal get together. Turkey and all the trimmings. The recipe for slow cooker cream corn I found here, and it has become a family favorite, always requested, especially by the kids.
My cooking triumphs
I did my own wedding reception with a menu which included Curry Fruited Chicken Salad, crossonts, and a chocolate fountain, complete with handmade mints in the shape of wedding bells, hearts and butterflies, which was my theme. I also made the grooms' cake, carrot with cream cheese icing and trimmed with nuts. I wowed them!
My cooking tragedies
My first homemade biscuits. They were so hard, my dad banged them on the rim of his plate and declaired them lethal weapons.
