About this Cook
I first started cooking when I was in the second grade. My mother would leave me step-by-step directions for preparing a meal. Since then I have created my own recipes and continue to try others. I love the cooking school that is associated with allrecipes and continue to learn new things. I have passed down my love of cooking to my children.
My favorite things to cook
Anything and everything. I have even learned to cook...raw foods.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Home canning is my most favorite family tradition. My mom and sisters and I...back when we lived closer would go to the farms and pick our own fruits and veggies when we didn't have gardens. I loved that time.
My cooking triumphs
Oreo cheese cake! The very first time I eve made cheese cake it turned out so well. It has been over 26 years since that time and I make an even better cheese cake now that I really know how to do it!
My cooking tragedies
I think my biggest tragedies have never made it to the table. I always have aloud myself time to remake anything I messed up. I have made cakes that have fallen. I have used salt in place of sugar. Don't have me how I did that.

Oven Fried Buttermilk Halibut
The recipe proportions are a little off for me. I think that there is too much buttermilk, egg and butter for the recipe. However, I made it for two. We had about 4 ounces of halibut each. I used about 2/3 cup of buttermilk and only one egg. I used about a teaspoon of melted butter for each fillet and if I weren't watching my health I would have used more, but 1 teaspoon each was enough. I used Triscut Rye/Caraway crackers. I wasn't sure that the caraway would be a good mix for the fish. Oh my goodness....my first bite I thought wow this would be great on chicken and then I had another bite and I have to say the flavors really meshed for us. I will be using this basics of this recipe for many other recipes for both fish and chicken. Thanks!!!! Plain Ole Bob and Thank you for your service too, Sir!

Homemade Wonton Soup
This soup is EXCELLENT. I made some changes, but nothing significant except adding oyster sauce (1 tbsp). I used baby bok choy, oyster mushrooms, extra green onions (because I love the flavor). I added sliced water chestnuts, used vegetable broth and chicken broth and panco crumbs. I took the advice of another and boiled the wonton's separately. I can't rave enough about this soup! Thank you SOOO much for posting it!

Pittsburgh Style Chipped Ham Barbeque
Excellent recipe. I read the other reviews and have to concur that onions are an essential part of what I remember about Chipped Ham BBQ sandwiches. We use Heinz Ketchup of course and chili sauce with brown sugar and a tiny bit of liquid smoke. I will make this recipe as a change up for our recipe. Thanks for submitting it.
