Glazed Meatloaf I

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2005
I was very disappointed in this meatloaf after reading about how great it was and making it last night for dinner. It was soggy and that grossed me out, which made me lose my appetite. The bread pieces is what I think made the meatloaf so soggy (and believe me, there is a difference between moist and yummy, and soggy and gross). I wonder if I had substituted crushed crackers instead or just left that part out altogether if it would've turned out better. It would've been good, had it not been so squishy and soggy.

Sugar Cookie Cutouts

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2005
I'm sorry to say that I just baked these cookies today, and they did not turn out as good as I'd hoped they would. They were pretty dry (I kind of choked on some crumbs after taking a small bite) and they tasted pretty plain. I might try it again, but only after I try the other sugar cookie recipes on this site to see which one is the best. Thanks for the recipe anyway!

Sugar Cookies with Buttercream Frosting

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2005
My favorite sugar cookie now!!! Thanks soooo much for sharing! I made this along side another sugar cookie recipe from this site (I only wanted to make the best sugar cookies to give as gifts to family and friends for the holidays!) and this one won by more than a mile! So, today I made 2-3 batches of this (the winning recipe)! This cookie (slightly) puffs beautifully and tastes yummy!!! I used a different frosting on the cookies though, but maybe next time I'll try the buttercream frosting too!

Thai Chicken Cabbage Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2006
I was so disappointed in this recipe because it did not taste good to me at all (I followed the recipe exactly). I thought it tasted too onion-y (from the leeks) and just too plain. Maybe I don't like how it tastes because I had higher expectations (due to the positive reviews). Thanks for sharing the recipe anyway, though I will not be making it again.

Chocolate Eclair Dessert

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2006
This is sooo good!!! I just made it yesterday and I'm still treating myself to a good portion today! I definitely cannot stop eating this!!! I agree with other reviewers that the reason why this eclair is so good is because it isn't too sweet and rich--and that's what makes it soooo perfect!!! The yummy pudding tastes like delicious custard instead and the chocolate topping compliments it perfectly! Microwaving the chocolate frosting and pouring it on top makes it sooo easy to frost! However, I disagree with some viewers that this is not a very presentable dessert because it is! It all depends on your creativity and skills. I was able to crack the graham crackers to fit in between the small cracks on the side of the 9x13 pan and frost my dessert perfectly. I also poured white chocolate in horizontal lines then used a knife to draw vertical lines over the white and regular chocolate frosting to create a very fancy effect! Therefore, this dessert is perfect for dressing up or down depending on your level of expertise!

Roasted Vegetables

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2006
This gets everyone in the house to eat veggies! I loved the sweet potatoes/yams the most! However, I didn't like the zucchini or bell peppers because they became bitter after they were roasted! That's perfectly fine though because you can use your favorite veggies to replace any other vegetable!

Mama's Balsamic Vinaigrette

This is great on salad greens. However, my favorite thing to do with this is to use it as a dip for baby carrots instead! Yum!!!

Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2006
I'm sorry to disappoint other reviewers but I was not amazed by these cookies. It just didn't have the "wow" factor like others have mentioned and it just tasted all right--nothing out of the ordinary. I've been using McCormick's chocolate chip cookies recipe for a while now and I prefer it over other home-made chocolate chip cookies that I've had. Thanks for sharing the recipe but I'm afraid I'll go back to McCormick's or try a different chocolate chip cookie recipe now and then.

Baked Pork Chops I

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2006
OH, MY, GOD --- these are the few words that I can utter about the deliciousness of this dish!!! I skipped the whole soup stuff at the end and just breaded, seared, and baked the pork chops, covered with foil. I did bake it for the time called for (about an hour) and it was tender and soooooooo good! I served mine with thinly sliced baked yams with herbs and seasonings and it was out of this world (hence, the reason why I didn't get a chance to take a picture of it and post it up because me and my husband gobbled it down so quickly)! I would recommend this recipe to anyone and can't wait to make it again for my family to try because I know they'll fall in love with it, just as I did (oh, and same with my husband).

Fluffy Two Step Cheesecake II

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2006
By far the best no bake cheesecake around!!! I added some lemon zest into the mixture to really punch up the flavor, and I found that this cheesecake tastes 100% better if you eat/serve it about one day after you make it!!! Therefore, it's a really good idea to make it the night before you plan to serve it because then the flavors will have time to mingle around with each other--I guarantee you'll taste the difference from doing so!

Chantal's New York Cheesecake

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2006
I'd give this recipe more stars if I could!!! Simply put, it's the best! Tastes like it's from the bakery and has restaurant quality---it was my very first successful cheesecake (others I've tried before turned out to be a gooey mess, even after I've baked it). This tastes best after a couple of days, so like others said, you should make it 2-3 days ahead of time. Didn't change a thing about it! I did have a teeny tiny crack, but didn't care because it tasted so good. This is the only traditional cheesecake recipe I'll use from now on!!! (I made it for Thanksgiving, and the family and I fought over who gets the 'left over' or 'extra' pieces of cheesecake after everone already got a piece!!!)

Apple Crisp II

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2006
Melt-in-your-mouth delicious topping! I doubled the topping amount and added half to the bottom like some reviewers suggested and I wouldn't have it any other way! The apples are runny so forget the extra water and I added an extra tablespoon of flour to my second crisp and it came out great. I also noticed that the cooking time isn't sufficient enough to soften my apples so I had to bake it 30 minutes or more longer. Other than that, this is the best apple crisp recipe ever!!! My family and I love it and will continue to use this recipe! Thanks for sharing!

Gingerbread Boys

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2007
The BEST gingerbread cookies I've ever had and made! I never cared for gingerbread cookies until I made these! My family and I gobbled this up! I didn't add the orange (don't want it in my gingerbread cookies), and ALWAYS sub molasses for the corn syrup - a MUST. The cookies tasted soooo good and came out perfect---chewy and melt-in-your-mouth good!

Thanks for sharing this recipe. I didn't like the taste of these, but after adding more cinnamon and sugar to the mixture, my friend praised me upon taking a big mouthful of this french toast. I guess it all just depends on your taste.

Beef Barley Vegetable Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2007
Oh god! These are so mouth-watering good! It's very much comfort food as it is camping, I'm sure! I can't seem to put my spoon down once I start eating this! Same thing happens to my family and friends too! You can't go wrong with this recipe since preciseness isn't a necessity---just throw what you want in it and make sure to use pearl barley like others have said. It turns out better than store bought beef stew/soup!
