Southern Collard Greens

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2007
These were fabulous! I let them cook for even a couple more hours, I figured it couldn't hurt. Great flavor and very simple! Thank you!

Old Fashioned Stuffing

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2005
I followed this recipe to a T and it came out very dry and flavorless. I would suggest more broth and sage. It was a disappointment on Thanksgiving.

Grandma's Corn Bread Dressing

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2007
I have tried for years to find a dressing recipe worthy of making on Thanksgiving. Finally I have found one. I added an extra half cup of stock and made sure I used a cornbread mix without sugar and it came out really great. It was gone before I knew it. I should have doubled the recipe!!

Hot Artichoke and Spinach Dip II

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2008
I made this dip for a Christmas party I had this weekend and wow , what a hit! I got numerous compliments. My fiance and I were disappointed that there was none left over! Very Yummy. I added more mozzarella on the top but that was the only change.

Peach-a-Berry Pie

Reviewed: May 29, 2008
This pie was simply delicious. I even used a Pillsbury crust! It was quite soupy even after cooling on the counter for 3-4 hours. I refrigerated it and about 4 hours later, it was perfect! Sweet with a little tartness...I wish I had some vanilla Ice cream but I am afraid it will all be gone before I can get to the store! Thanks so much!

Slow Cooker Ham

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2008
This Ham came out so tender!! I used a 6.5 lb semi-boneless ham and I cooked it 8 hrs on low. I put brown sugar in the bottom of the crock and rubbed it all over the ham, then I used a can of pineapple slices. I lined the bottom with a few of them and placed the ham cut side down on them and secured the rest on the ham with a toothpick. I did have to trim a bit off the top of the ham. I basted it with the juices every 2 hrs quickly as to not let the heat out of the crock pot. I will never bake a ham in the oven again!! Thanks!

Giblet Gravy II

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2007
Excellent flavor and very easy to make. I also added an egg, otherwise I wouldn't change the recipe a bit. Thank you!

Charline's Sweet Potato Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2007
I was disappointed in the results of this recipe. The consistancy was too soupy even though I tried to cook it longer but then the topping started to get too dark. It didn't have a whole lot of flavor either.

Oven-Roasted Asparagus

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2014
The flavor was really good but mine were cooked too long. I think 8-10 mins would have been good. I don't think mine were thin so may want to keep checking them.

Irish Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2013
This was really good! I left out the potatoes because we like to eat it over rice and that would just be too many carbs. I doubled+ the poultry seasoning and the pepper. I also baked my own chicken to get both dark and white meat and also boiling the carcass when doing step 1 gives it a lot of flavor. I also used 4 cups of chicken broth instead of the water. A good basic recipe. The bisquick dumplins are the best imo.

Sunday Best Fruit Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2009
This recipe was a big hit at our 4th of July BBQ. I used Granny Smith apples because it sounded like it would be super sweet and the apples did add a nice tartness. Also I added some blueberries since I had them left over from another recipe. This salad has a great flavor and was even better the next day though not as pretty.

Chicken Jambalaya

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2008
I made this last night for me and the hubby. We loved it! I doubled the recipe because it didn't seem like it would make too much. Well, I should have quadrupled it! The leftovers were gone by noon today! I made it as written and I wouldn't change a thing.

This pie had a wonderful flavor. I would definately advise using a deep dish crust.

Four Cheese Macaroni

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2006
I made this on Thanksgiving and everybody raved about it. I have always had bad luck with mac n cheese and almost gave up trying to make it but then I saw this recipe and thought it sounded good. It is delicious and real cheesy. I had some guests on Thanksgiving that are used to very good homemade soul food and they all gave this recipe the stamp of approval! Thanks!
