Best Buttercream Frosting

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2013
I had high hopes from this recipe based on reviews. Everything came together just fine, although more time consuming and labor intensive than the usual butter-powdered sugar-milk-vanilla icing. We just did not care for this at all. It tastes like room temperature Cool Whip, void of any flavor or sweetness.

Hash Brown Casserole II

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2006
This is a great dish! I usually just use 1.5 tsp of onion powder instead of chopping an onion, and I don't put the sour cream in because I don't like it. Otherwise, this is one of my favorites!

Easiest Peanut Butter Fudge

Reviewed: May 30, 2006
At first, I rated this recipe a 2 as it was written. It was way too dry and tasted just like powdered sugar with a hint of peanut butter. However, I made it again with 2 c. brown sugar, 3 c. powdered sugar, and 1.5 c. of peanut butter. This time, it is delicious and creamy!

Fresh Strawberry Pie I

Reviewed: May 27, 2006
This is the same filling I've used for about a year for making strawberry pie (the sugar, cornstarch, water, and jello). However, the amounts listed are what I use to make ONE pie! I have no idea how this amount of filling would cover enough strawberries for 2 pies. Also, my recipe calls for cold water (when mixing it with the jello, cornstarch, and sugar), bringing it all to a boil and boiling it for 5 minutes, stirring frequently. I've never had one turn out soupy or rubbery.

Southern Pecan Pie I

Reviewed: May 25, 2006
The filling tasted good, but it was so soupy. I'm not sure why it didn't set up. It definitely baked long enough.

Egg Noodles

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2006
This was my first attempt at making noodles. These were very easy to make, and actually kind-of fun. They tasted great, and I think I'm going to make some more tonight!

Brown Sugar Smokies

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2006
Someone I work with brought these for a get-together. However, she had cut the bacon into thirds and wrapped it around the smokies, then secured each one with a toothpick instead of using a skewer. Then, she placed them in the baking dish and poured the brown sugar on top of them, which sounds a little easier to me then all of this dredging. I plan on making them for a Super Bowl party, where I know they'll go over well. If not, guess I'll just have to eat them all! :)

Fluffy Pineapple Pie

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2006
I love this recipe, I've been making it for a few years now. I don't like cream cheese, and it's difficult to find a "creamy" type pie without the cream cheese. This is easy to make and tastes wonderful.

Butter Cookies II

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2005
I made a double batch of these yesterday. However, I didn't use the cookie press, I just rolled them out and cut them into circles. I baked them just until they were set- no browning (I like them soft). I made a frosting out of 1 stick of margarine softened, 1 lb. powdered sugar, 1 tsp. vanilla extract, and a scant 1/4 c. milk to use on them, then decorated with colored sugars. They turned out great! My husband loved them and wouldn't even let me throw 3 or 4 cookies out that I had cut too thin and had browned! These are the best, although I don't know how much I would have liked them if I wouldn't have put icing on them.
