Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2010
I love this recipe! It's simple and delicious! I use canola oil instead of shortening and usually make it into muffins. And I add a little cinnamon. Thanks for the recipe!

Skinny Fries

Reviewed: Aug. 17, 2009
These are so good! I tripled the recipe and used canola oil instead of butter. I didn't even put salt and pepper on the fries, and they were still yummy! Thanks for a fantastic way to make homemade fries!

Fast and Friendly Meatballs

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2009
This is a fantastic recipe... the meatballs are delicious and so easy to make. I didn't have seasoned bread crumbs so I used 1/3 cup matzo meal and added 1/2 tsp. onion powder, 1/2 tsp. garlic powder and 1/4 tsp. salt... they tasted great and my kids loved them! I will be making this recipe at least once a week!

Jeanie's Falafel

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2009
This falafel is delicious, and tastes exactly the way falafel should taste. I left the onion out (chopped onion in falafel just doesn't sound right to me), put in 1/2 tsp. garlic powder instead of the garlic cloves, sprinkled some ground black pepper instead of the cracked peppercorns and didn't use cilantro and parsley because I didn't have any. I added a little bit of water so that the batter would hold together better. I don't own a deep fryer, so I fried them in a regular frying pan (I shaped the falafel more like a patty than a ball) and they came out delicious and didn't crumble at all. Everyone loved them, and I will definately make this recipe again(with the changes I made), but will try adding cilantro and parsley next time, even though the falafel is delicious w/o them.

Sloppy Joes II

Reviewed: Apr. 2, 2009
I love this recipe! Sloppy Joes was one of my favorite foods when I was a kid, [of course my mom used Manwich, which is not available where I live :@)] and I'm so glad that now I can make it with basic ingredients that I always have on hand. This recipe is really great and simple to make. I've made it using both ground beef and ground turkey, and I always double the sauce. Thanks for a great recipe!

Nana's Barbeque Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2009
I love this sauce! The first time I made it I didn't have all of the ingredients needed for the recipe but really needed to make bbq sauce, so I just made it with what I had and we all loved it! I kind of simplified the recipe... I leave out the worcestershire sauce and all of the spices besides the black pepper, and it's sooo good! I sometimes add a whole chopped up onion instead of the amount called for. The sauce is a thick sauce, which is what I like. And I've used it with boneless skinless chicken breasts and a whole cut up chicken (w/o) skin and it's delicious!(I just poured the sauce over and baked.) I have also used lemon juice instead of the vinegar and it still tasted great! Just for the record, I'm sure the sauce is fantastic made as written in the recipe, and I do plan on trying it with all the spices eventually.

This is so good... I made it for Thanksgiving and everyone loved it. It's very moist and delicious.(It reminds me of carrot cake.) I doubled the recipe (I left out the nuts) and got 4 small loaves out of it. I'm going to use this recipe for muffins.

This cake is fantastic! Very moist with great flavor, and so easy to make! I didn't use raisins or cloves, so I added a 1/4 tsp. more cinnamon, and it came out great. Perfect flavor. I also used 1/4 cup canola oil instead of 1/2 cup butter. I wil definately be making this again.

Jay's Signature Pizza Crust

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2008
This pizza crust is incredible. Everyone loved it. The dough was really sticky so I kept on adding flour, but it didn't really help and I thought maybe I was adding to much flour and it would ruin the dough, so I left it sticky and smeared oil on the top before I let it rise. It was very hard to work with but it tasted great!

Easy Pizza Sauce I

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2008
Very, very good. Husband and 2 1/2 year old loved the pizza made with this sauce. And the house smelled fantastic while pizza was baking. After reading alot of reviews, I doubled the recipe, but didn't double oil and water- came out great.

Banana Cake VII

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2008
This is the tastiest banana cake I've ever eaten! It's incredibly moist with great banana flavor. I used 1/4 cup canola oil instead of butter and rice milk instead of regular milk, and it came out great! It not at all like banana bread, it's much lighter. It's not fluffy, but it's very light and moist. Will definately make again.

Chocolate Oil Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2008
This cake is so chocolatey and moist, and so easy to make. I made it with my 2 1/2 year old, and he had a great time. If I hadn't made it myself I never would have known that it's w/o eggs.I will definately make this again, will also use this recipe for cupcakes. I agree with another reviewer that this cake should be renamed, "chocolate oil cake" doesn't sound very appealing, but the cake is really great!Update: I used this recipe for cupcakes, took 20 minutes to bake and came out really good -I got 24 cupcakes out of this recipe. (This cake also freezes well.)

Cinnamon Roasted Sweet Potatoes

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2008
I make this recipe alot- it's one of our favorite sweet potato recipes. I usually double the sugar\spice mixture and I skip all the steps- I just coat the sweet potatoes with oil and then with the sugar/spice mixture... it comes out really good.

Oatmeal Raisin Cookies IX

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2008
These are so good!!! I try to bake only with canola oil, and am always on the lookout for good recipes for cakes and cookies.I don't think that there are many cookie recipes that call for oil instead of butter or margarine...Anyway, these cookies are fantastic (and for a cookie, kind of healthy...) and I've already made them several times, and will definately continue making them :@)I actually made them without raisins, and they still taste great (I added the 1/4 cup brown sugar that some other reviewers wrote about)My husband and two year old love them, and if they are going to nosh, I'd rather they eat these cookies than something else with bad fats and zero nutritional value. Thanks so much for the recipe :@) Update: I've been making these cookies with 1 1/4 cup LIGHT brown sugar (and no raisins) and (to me) they come out better this way... I make them at least once a week and EVERYONE who eats them asks me for the recipe...try them!

Banana Pancakes I

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2008
I followed this recipe exactly and I ended up throwing the pancakes away, they were brown on both sides, but so mushy on the inside... it seemed like they didn't cook enough. I will not be making these again.
