Authentic German Potato Salad

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2012
This is sooo good! I didnt change a thing. My young son didnt like it but my teenager did so it may not appeal to younger eaters.

Cranberry Sweet Potato Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2012
You could serve this without the spread but the spread makes it special. I had compliments and repeat requests for the spread recipe. This is very easy to make and using the small can of candied yams mashed up equaled 1 cup almost on the nose. This froze well and it sliced up easily while still partially frozen.

Winter Fruit Salad with Lemon Poppyseed Dressing

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2011
Made it exactly as written and it's a great salad. Add the cut up fruit to the dressing and add it to the salad just before serving. This way your fruit wont discolor and your greens will stay crisper---and this makes it easier to transport to a potluck.

Slow Cooker Sweet Potato Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2011
I'll be making this again. I added about a quarter cup of crushed pineapple. It was delicious but I should've done a better job of draining the pineapple as I had quite a bit of liquid pooling around the casserole. This was also good the next day--hard to stop eating.

Banana Cake Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2011
Very good. Cakey texture. The only sub I made was to use butter in place of shortening only because it's what I had on hand. Good with or without frosting.

Really good. My patties were delicate and wanted to break apart but it all worked out in the end.

Zucchini Bread IV

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2011
I skipped the nuts and added raisins. It was hard to stay out of this. I made a second batch with substitutions of some applesauce for half the oil and replaced half the sugar with splenda. It was not as good but it was edible.

Lime Pear Gelatin Salad

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2011
I loved this and finished it off myself--which was a lot of jello because no one else would eat it. Go figure.

Chocolate Mint Cookies I

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2011
Best seller at the bake sale! They were delicious and my family cant wait for more. I gave the andes mints a rough chop and threw them in the dough. I think they are best when they've had a chance to cool and set up.

Peach Cobbler II

Reviewed: Jul. 1, 2011
I took the advice of others and cut back on the amount of added water. Delicious flavor and pleasant texture. The second time I made this I used canned peaches so I added hot peach liquid instead of water and it was also fantastic.

Guava Chiffon Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 1, 2011
The cake is a perfect base for strawberry shortcake! I've made this twice--both times using cake flour. I used nectar the first time and undiluted/thawed concentrate the second time and couldnt really tell much of a difference in flavor. The guava sauce is good. Never bothered frosting the cake so the review is just for the sponge cake.

Sugar Cookie Icing

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2010
Nothing against almond but I only had vanilla. The taste is good and the icing is nice and shiny. Only rated a 3 star because the measurements didnt work for me. I had to add more milk. This is great icing for piping but doesnt work well for kids to paint with.

Turkey BBQ Sandwiches

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2010
This recipe inspired me. I'd never thought about bbq'd turkey legs. The legs are so economical and tasty. I made the sauce as written but ended up tweaking it for personal taste. Thanks for such a simple and delicious idea.

German Spaetzle Dumplings

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2010
After reading previous reviews I doubled the recipe. This was my first attempt with spaetzle and I am patting myself on the back. Turned out great. Very light, not too chewy. I used the ziploc bag technique and was lamenting not having a spaetzle maker. I made a huge mess in the kitchen but the results were really good. I confess, by the time they were sauteeing in the butter I was not in the mood to chop fresh parsley so I sprinkled with dried parsley. Next time I'll chop the parsley ahead of time. We served this with the jagerschnitzel from this website.

Jagerschnitzel

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2010
Delicious. Made it as written with a couple of minor changes in the sauce. Ran out of beef bouillon so used chicken and cut back on the corn starch in the sour cream. With or without the sauce this is my new pork chop recipe. We served it over homemade spaetzle.
