Pumpkin Muffins with Streusel Topping

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2012
Was craving something with pumpkin and this did the trick! So moist and great flavor, the only thing I would do differently is add some chopped pecans to the streusel...other than that perfect! Update: I added a cream cheese filling to these muffins and it worked out perfectly! I made the filling out of: 8 ounces cream cheese, softened, 1 cup powdered sugar & 1/2 teaspoon vanilla. I then placed the mixture on plastic wrap and made a log out of it, wrapped it up and put in the freezer for a few hours and then just sliced it when I needed it to put in the center of the muffin batter. So good!

Persian Sabzi Polo (Herb Rice with Fava Beans)

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2009
I love Sabzi Polo! When I prepare the rice I rinse it then put it in boiling water for 5-8 minutes, drain rice in a strainer, dry pot out with a towel and pour the vegetable oil on the bottom, mix rice with herbs & favas then transfer rice to pot and cook on low for 45 minutes. Make sure to wrap a towel around the pot lid so it absorbs the water that would fall back in the rice otherwise, try it trust me it makes a difference.

Creamy Rice Pudding

Fabulous!!! I used Arborio Rice and it turned out really good.......I also used Vanilla Bean Paste instead of Vanilla Extract just to have the pretty little vanilla bean flecks. Will be making this again for sure!

Simple Chicken and Noodles

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2009
Just like Chicken and Noodles should be! Easy recipe and absolutely delicious, I think some people are expecting this to be a soup recipe but this is something completely different. I always serve this over mashed potatoes and always get rave reviews. This recipe is the same one my great-grandma used and is soo comforting. Also, DO NOT put this in a crockpot when first making as the broth needs to be hot enough for the noodles to form, if not they will just turn gummy. Great recipe Clara!

Granny Kat's Pumpkin Roll

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2010
Absolutely wonderful! Made just as written and it came out perfect. I put waxed paper down on the sheet before pouring the roll mix (I do this by greasing the sheet first with crisco the put the wax paper over that to get the wax paper to stick to the sheet) and I didn't use a damp towel to invert the roll but used another wax paper sheet with powdered sugar....Will definitely make this again!

Chinese Cabbage Salad I

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2010
I used a head of cabbage and shredded that which worked really well. I also used rice vinegar in place of the cider vinegar and scaled down the sugar to 1/4 cup. I also added 2 tablespoons of sesame seeds and sliced almonds which I toasted with the ramen. Really great recipe that obviously can be altered to a cooks taste. Thanks so much!

Candy Cane Fudge

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2010
I followed this recipe just as written except I did not add the food coloring....I don't think this candy needs it, it is SOOO pretty on it's own. I added the crushed candy cane to the mixture and then after pouring it into the prepared pan, I very gentley patted some crushed candy cane on top of the fudge. I posted a picture and I think the fudge looks pretty without the food coloring. Thank you for a wonderful and easy recipe.

Martha Washington Candies

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2010
I would give this recipe more stars if I could, it is absolutely fabulous candy!!! I made just as directed except for adding paraffin to the chocolate. DEFINITELY ADD PARAFFIN to the chocolate!!! The paraffin makes the chocolate have a beautiful sheen, makes it easier to work with and helps the chocolate to dry quicker. I shave the paraffin into the chocolate so it will melt quickly....by all means DO NOT add a big chunk of paraffin if you melt the chocolate in the microwave, it will not melt easily that way. I made one set of candy without the paraffin and one with, I wish I had taken a picture of the set without paraffin to show the difference. This candy also taste almost identical to the Mayfair candy that See's sells except you just need to add chopped up maraschino cherries to the filling.....which I will definitely do the next time I make these! Thanks SO much for such a wonderful recipe. Almost forgot to add DO NOT forget to chill it will help to make the filling less gooey to work with and make sure your chocolate isn't scalding hot or your candy most likely will fall apart. I had absolutely zero problems making this, give it a try.

Triple Berry Crisp

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2008
Very yummy! I followed the directions except that I didn't have raspberries so I just added more blackberries and blueberries. I also put the butter in the microwave to get it to soften quicker it made mixing the ingredients alot easier. Chopped pecans would be a wonderful addition to this already delicious crisp!

My great grandmother also made this recipe and I never thought I would see it in someone elses collection. haha My grandmother always added 1 ground navel orange (Sounds strange I know but added it, it is wonderful!) and only a cup of grapes that were cut in half. Always a good Christmas recipe!

Pasta Shells Florentine

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2011
Great base recipe! I substituted 32 oz. of Ricotta instead of the Cottage Cheese, 2 eggs beaten instead of 1. I also used a small onion and 3 cloves of garlic, tossed into my food processor and then sauteed in a tsp. of olive oil which I mixed with the filling. I thawed the spinach and then used 3/4 of the box and squeezed the liquid out through some cheesecloth and put it in the food processor to make the spinach finer. I also did not use jar spaghetti sauce....The sauce really makes a difference!!! I used the Best Marinara Sauce Yet on the site and this meal tasted GOURMET!!! Yum!
