Zuppa Toscana
I love this recipe. Granted, I tend to use it more as a guideline than a rule, but it's a good, solid base. What do I do different? I add some fresh kale, bump the garlic (my family loves it), use homemade chicken stock, and add a little butter (about 3 Tbsp). I never have leftovers.

Traditional Indiana Persimmon Pudding
Okay, this is a relatively obscure recipe. That being said, I can't encourage you enough to try it. I used fresh persimmon and followed the recipe to the letter. The result? Well, my family RAVISHED the result. It's simply outstanding!

Mrs. Sigg's Snickerdoodles
This is a great recipe. Personally, I think the real trick is to A) make sure the butter is soft (not melted) and to B) really cream the sugar and wet ingredients. I let mine go until it was nice and light and then folded the dry goods in. The resulting dough was perfectly hydrated and just barely sticky, but very easy to handle. I scooped a healthy tablespoon onto 3/4 sheet pans lined with parchment paper and baked at 400 for 11 minutes (YMMV of course). The result? A wonderful cookie with mildly crispy edges and a nice, soft interior. I do recommend using a good quality cinnamon and, if you can get your hands on it, C&H Baker's Sugar.
