Slow-Cooker Barbecue Ribs

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2015
Rating this 5 stars on technique alone. Searing on both sides makes these ribs crispy on the outsides, tender and juicy on the inside, slow cooker or not. Certainly the best ribs I've ever cooked. . .Use whatever barbeque sauce you like - it's a personal thing. . . or a regional thing or whatever. It is the technique that is the keeper.

Southern Summer Squash Pudding

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2014
We liked this - a good way to used up some more of those summer squashes. This was moist, flavorful and wonderfully lemony . . . and somewhat healthy. That makes it a keeper for me.

Very good. I doubled the recipebut didn't double the red pepper, using half ground pork. It was plenty spicy for us. Good meatballs.

Simple Whole Wheat Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2014
Yep, by far the best whole wheat I've baked. I used buckwheat honey as it is what I had- it is a dark honey almost reminiscent of molasses. Turned out very good. Nice soft bread texture(not too dense or fluffy, moist, flavorful. Excellent - this will be a keeper for me.

Chicken with Artichokes and Sundried Tomatoes

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2014
Hubby said A++ - I would say a solid A . . . Simple(short ingredient list), quick(prep and cleanup), easy, tasty and nutritious. Looking for ways to used my sun dried tomatoes from summer- this is a unique and pleasant flavor. I used black olives and chicken thighs as that it what I had. I would like to see a calorie count on this one. Thanks for posting

Sour Cream Coffee Cake I

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2013
Excellent coffee cake- as written! I used real sour cream off the farm. This is not a fluff cake- it is denser and richer with a more interesting and complex flavor. Reminds me of a cake I used to make with sourdough starter. I did not ice this cake and it was plenty sweet.

Sour Cream Coffee Cake III

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2013
This was an excellent coffee cake- as written. Reminded me of a sourdough coffee cake I used to make years ago when I maintained sourdough starter. I made this with real soured cream from the farm. Wonderful. This is not a fluff cake. It is denser, moister, and heavier than most recipies but it was also richer and more complex in flavor. I did not ice it and it was plenty sweet. We loved it and the recipe will definitely go into my keeper file when

I am not a turnip lover but they grow so well in my garden! This was actually quite enjoyable. It is so far my favorite way to fix them.

I will definitely make this again. As written, not too sweet, not too rich, not too big. Perfect for a treat and not a banquet

Hearty Multigrain Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2013
I've been looking for a bread like this for a long time. First of all - easy! The texture was great(definitely not fluff bread), it got a nice crust, tasted wonderful, utilized good fiber, seeds and grains. It's a nice small recipe for one or two meals and did I mention that it's easy enough to throw this recipe in the bread machine in the morning and have bread a few hours later or for the evening. Exactly what I was looking for. I will experiment with various seeds, nuts herbs and grains. Thanks Debbie! This is my new favorite thing.

Beef and Bean Chimichangas

Reviewed: Jun. 6, 2012
This was a keeper for us. We're trying to eat more beans and this is a very tasty way to do it. After baking I let them cool and put them in a closed container for lunches during the week. The only change I made - only used half of the spices and only half of the taco sauce because I wanted to be able to handle these easily once cooled. Also I used beef cubes instead of ground beef. Yum!

Excellent change from sweetened sweet potatoes. I chunked an onion and tossed it in with this recipe and left out the brown sugar altogether. Yum. This will be a keeper.

Creamy Rice Pudding

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2012
I love rice pudding and I've been trying to make a respectable one for years. I just made this and it far surpasses respectable. The only thing I changed was that I used almost a cup of long grain rice instead of 3/4 because it was all that was left in my package. It turned out wonderfully creamy. I added the tsp of vanilla and a dash of cinnamon and a dash of nutmeg in the last step. Fantastic!!! Thanks Erica!!

Blueberry, Berry Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2011
At 461 cal per slice, no wonder it's good ;) A bit too rich for my body so: I also subbed whole wheat flour for 1 cup of the flour, 1/2 cup applesauce for 1/2 of the oil, and I only used 1 1/4 cups of sugar. I added 1 tsp almond flavoring and about a cup of berries (strawberries and raspberries aside from the fresh blueberries and about a half cup of juice that was with them. Baked in 2 regular loaf pans at exactly the same time. Delish, moist, flavorful. A keeper! The only mistake I mad was that I let a couple of seeds from the rather large zuchini get in and next time I won't do that. (Crunch)

Not Your Average Grilled Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2011
What a wonderful way to grill chicken! I couldn't believe that I've been cooking all of these years and never figured this out before. Butterflying the chicken is a brilliant idea. Chicken gets cooked through evenly without charring the meat. I've used this several times already with different marinades and barbeque sauces, including this one. Thanks for posting!
