Such a delicious flavor! I chopped the red onion rather than pureeing it. I loved the taste of the cumin in it. Served over/with garlic bread.

Moroccan Vegetable Soup

This was a really delicious soup! Better than I expected! I used fresh pumpkin - softened and then pureed. I added fresh cilantro to it and pureed that too (in addition to the dried). However, forgot to puree the carrots - oops, although I don't think it mattered at all. I also added paprika and turmeric to the main soup (after one reviewer's comments about adding more spice). As I said it was really delicious, and I loved the lemon juice flavor - I added a bit more than recommended. Next time I'll double the recipe to make more for my family as the kids happily ate it too.

Chicken with Red Chile Sauce and Sausage (Pollo con Salsa Rojo y Chorizo)

Chicken, Spinach, and Potato Soup

Nice soup. My children enjoyed it. I didn't add extra salt as I wanted to reduce the salt. I didn't have the red peppers so omitted them too. I also reduced the garlic a bit. It was a nice combination of ingredients and to me it felt smooth and tasted kind of buttery/creamy.

Easy Mexican Casserole

Delicious. My 8 year old doesn't generally like casseroles, but he thought it was nachos, so he ate it. I loved the flavor of the black olives through it!

Banana Nut Cupcakes

It turned out well. I did put my own twist on it.. I used thickened cream in place of shortening. I reduced the sugar to 1/2 cup. Used 2 medium bananas mashed rather than trying to measure 1 cup. To make it even healthier, I used wholemeal flour. I also sprinkled some of the chopped nuts on top before baking. They were really good while still hot!

Okra Patties

I made these exactly following the recipe, and they tasted good. I can see other people's suggestions for adding extra spices being useful too. We served with some hot sauce. While they were good, they were pretty 'heavy' and I'm not sure if I'd make them again. But then again, I'm not a huge okra fan either.

Zesty Veggie Salad

Tasty and colorful salad which was actually faster to make than I had expected. I didn't bother peeling or seeding the cucumber, and unfortunately couldn't find the red pepper I thought I had. But it still tasted really good.

Beef with Vegetables

I don't think this is enough really for 4 servings. Also, just adding 1 onion, 1 green pepper and 1 carrot wasn't a terribly exciting vegetable mix or enough vegetables in my opinion, so I added plenty of other vegetables - extra carrot, snap peas, celery, broccoli, bamboo, etc. Also the sauce, although nice, was a little boring, so I would suggest spicing it up with some other ingredients. I added some sweet chilli sauce, but it would also be nice with other ingredients. It was a decent base recipe.

Asian Pear and Strawberry Smoothie

I didn't like the idea of adding straight sugar, so like some of the other reviewers, I added half a banana instead, and it was perfect sweetness. I also used frozen raspberries rather than strawberries. It tasted delicious, refreshing and healthy!

Apple Cherry Cobbler

This was really good, but once we reached the middle, I realised that the base wasn't properly cooked at the center. So it needed a little extra cooking time. I made this according to the recipe except that rather than use canned fruit, I used real chopped up apples and fresh cherries. I added some corn starch to the fruit, but no extra sugar after reading some of the other reviews that the recipe was sweet in the first place. All in all it turned out really well and tasty (and a good texture), but was a bit different from other cobblers I've had.

Restaurant Style Mac and Cheese

This was such an EASY recipe. Very good. I didn't have processed cheese so I just used the cheddar and added a little extra cream. I also didn't add the salt, however, I did add a little bit of mustard for flavor. It was devoured!
