French Crepes

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2012
I accidentally used self rising flour. Didn't matter. They turned out delicious! Great way to use up some older/sour milk too.

Lentil Chili

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2012
Precooked the onions in pan, and added some crushed garlic to that. Used a can of lentils. Everyone in the family agreed it was delicious! Served over rice, and it was devoured!

Roasted Red Pepper Lasagna

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2012
I really wasn't sure what to expect from this recipe, but it turned out really delicious. Whole family loved it. I did cheat a bit and used roasted red peppers from a jar, and I also took other reviewers' advice and added extra (and different) cheese.

Pikelets (Scottish Pancakes)

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2012
Light, fluffy, delicious & easy to work with. My only suggestion is reduce the amount of sugar, and then sweeten to taste by serving with jam or syrup.

Onigiri - Japanese Rice Balls

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2012
Easy and tasty recipe. I made half quantity, which still produced a good amount. I used 2 cups of rice and 2 1/2 cups of water. I seasoned with salt and put ume (Japanese pickled plum) in the center, then added black sesame seeds and nori to the outside.

Chef John's Asparagus Souffle

Delicious and looked great too! Definitely 5 stars. My eight year old son was a bit afraid of the green color, but the rest of us (including his younger brother) thought it was cool!

Mosaic Dessert Bars

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2012
Very easy and straight forward to make. Mixture held together very well and was easy to cut and remove from the mold. Overall, it was delicious, but I did find the white jello a little sweet, but that may only be because I'm used to the recipe where it's made from thickened cream and pineapple juice.

Pasta al Mediterraneo

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2012
This dish was delicious!! I found bucatini pasta which I googled and is apparently the same as perciatelli pasta (long spaghetti-like pasta that is hollow). I didn't have fresh basil, but added some chopped green onion. I loved the lemony flavor through the dish! It was a hit at the family dinner table and went in no time! So easy - will make it again for sure.

Fluffy Lemon Pudding Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 30, 2012
Like another reviewer, I made this in ramekins. They turned out delicious and were a great hit! I probably could have cut down on the sugar a bit, but it wasn't a problem.

Chayote Squash Side Dish

Reviewed: Jun. 30, 2012
I did use some of the other rater's suggestions but the dish wasn't really anything exciting. It was okay, but I wouldn't make it again. I definitely thought it needed a bit more cooking but even after cooking it longer, it still tasted/felt a bit like under-cooked potatoes. Who knows - maybe my chayote are different from the ones used in the recipe..

This was a fairly good recipe. Relatively easy to make, tasted good. It wasn't outstanding enough for me to give it 5 stars, but it was still good.

Sweet and Spicy Curry with Chickpeas

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2012
Even after reading the good reviews, I was skeptical about this recipe as it looked a bit of an odd combination. Anyway, it turned out delicious - the whole family devoured it. It was easy to make too. I added some chopped fresh red pepper and served over rice.

Armenian Lentils

Reviewed: Jun. 25, 2012
This was an enjoyable and different way to have lentils. I added some extra flavors - garlic, cumin and turmeric (not sure they are particularly Armenian, but they are flavors that I like to add to dishes). Tasted really nice with the yogurt and lemon.

Really good.. I should have cooked it a little longer though. I felt my potatoes were just slightly a little hard.

As recommended by other reviewers, I used roma tomatoes, bocconcini cheese and balsamic dressing. They were SO simple and quick to make. I took them to a dinner and I got plenty of positive feedback!

Pico de Gallo

Such a delicious flavor! I chopped the red onion rather than pureeing it. I loved the taste of the cumin in it. Served over/with garlic bread.

Moroccan Vegetable Soup

Reviewed: May 7, 2012
This was a really delicious soup! Better than I expected! I used fresh pumpkin - softened and then pureed. I added fresh cilantro to it and pureed that too (in addition to the dried). However, forgot to puree the carrots - oops, although I don't think it mattered at all. I also added paprika and turmeric to the main soup (after one reviewer's comments about adding more spice). As I said it was really delicious, and I loved the lemon juice flavor - I added a bit more than recommended. Next time I'll double the recipe to make more for my family as the kids happily ate it too.
