Chocolate Surprise Cupcakes

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2005
This is a classic recipe and something my Mom always used to make. These are DEFINITELY my favourite cupcakes and people are always shocked at how yummy they are! The cream cheese makes them taste incredible. I always put a few extra chocolate chips in the cupcakes to make them more chocolatey & less dry.

Chinese Chicken Fried Rice I

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2009
Delicious! I followed the directions of other reviewers and added a bit of garlic powder, ginger and a bit of hoisin sauce. I also cooled the cooked rice (made enough for 6 ppl) in the fridge so it was sufficiently cooled when we mixed it all together. It turned out really well and we'll definitely be making this recipe again! Oh, and the leftovers were still great the next day!

Chicken and Apple Curry

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2008
This is one of my all time favourite recipes. I make it exactly as described but I usually add more apples and onion than the recipe calls for. They're the best part! I serve this with basmati rice and use some of the sauce to pour over the rice and chicken.

Old-Fashioned Cheese Potatoes

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2008
Excellent recipe! I made it exactly as described. I put my sliced potatoes in the mircowave for a few minutes before putting them in the baking dish - I was afraid they wouldn't cook all the way through in the oven. I will definitely make this again.

Pico de Gallo

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2010
Fantastic. I'm so happy I finally found a good pico recipe. I adjusted it to taste, but not too much (added almost a whole jalepeno, a bit less cilantro and lots of salt and pepper). I also found that it tasted better after a night in the fridge, and a few days later even!

Tim's Mac and Cheese

Reviewed: May 4, 2008
I found this recipe about a year ago and it's become my favourite. The recipe is simple and very, very yummy. I make the sauce pretty much as written, except I add some paprika and finely chopped yellow onions. Instead of adding bread to the top, I sprinkle a thin layer of bread crumbs and after the macaronia has baked for 30 minutes, I broil it for just a minute or two so the breadcrumbs become crunchy. This is a great basic recipe and it's one of my all time favourite things to cook!!!

Grilled Garlic Potatoes

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2008
This is a great recipe & super easy. I've made it a few times now & have found my favourite version: use baking potatoes, pre-cook for about 2 mins in the microwave before hand so they're almost cooked through. Add real bacon bits, a bit of onion powder and Kraft Tex Mex Shredded cheese. Yum. I don't continue to grill the potatoes after I add the bacon bits & cheese - I just add them at the end, and re-cover the foil for a few minutes. By the time you open it back up the cheese is melted just fine!

Yummy Honey Chicken Kabobs

Reviewed: May 22, 2007
Amazing. We didn't have garlic so I used some garlic powder. We also didn't have many veggies, so I just used onion. I put the BBQ on med-low as the chicken pieces I cut were small. I'm in love with this recipe!!!!

Grilled Pork Tenderloin

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2006
I have never cooked pork before and this recipe made it so easy! I used chopped garlic instead of powder and used Master's Choice (at A&P) Honey Garlic BBQ sauce. I had some trouble with the "indirect" cooking method. Either I didn't really get it, or Canadian winters are too cold to get good indirect heat on the BBQ. I did the first 1/2 hour on indirect heat, and then flipped it and did another 25 minutes on the grill, flipped it again for another 15 minutes and then put it on the top for another 10 minutes. In the end, everything was fine and it was AMAZING!!! I will make this again and again because if its taste and the simplicity of the recipe.

Mulligatawny Soup I

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2012
SO AMAZING! It's actually hard to believe that something so simple is so delicious. I make it exactly as written EXCEPT I've never tried it with the heavy cream. Don't see the point. Can't wait to have the leftovers tomorrow and freeze the rest!

Sweet Mustard Chicken Bake

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2007
This recipe was good...mostly because it was tasty and easy. It wasn't anything spectacular but I appreciate the fact that it was so easy! I took the advice of some of the reviewers and only used about 1/2 the amount of butter, added corn starch, a few bread crumbs and a bit of garlic powder. We also ate it with rice (w/chicken stock for flavour), and I poured some sauce over the rice which was a mistake on my part. It was too sweet and the chicken and rice would have been good on its own.

MMMMM... Brownies

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2008
These were great and easy to make! They were a bit cakey. Next time I think I will use some extra chocolate chips to add after the batter is done.

Easy Chicken Tetrazzini

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2008
This was pretty good. Almost like a hearty soup. Great for a cold day! I used 1 cup of chicken stock instead of bouillon and that seemed to work just fine. It was pretty runny, but not too bad. I also added fresh ground pepper to the soup/broth mix and pepper when serving. I would probably make this again!

Better Than Best Fried Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2006
This turned out great and was very easy to make. I followed the recipe exactly as directed and used vegetable oil for frying. I also used soup with 50% less fat. Next time, I think I would add some more paprika, more garlic powder and maybe some onion powder to increase the flavour! It tasted great with honey mustard for dipping!

Delicious Chicken Casserole

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2009
This was great! We didn't have any celery or celery salt, so I didn't use either. Also, I cut the ingredients in half as there was only two of us. I made enough rice for 4 people and added boullion after. Instead of boiling the chicken, I sprinkled 2 chicken breasts (skinless, boneless)with salt, pepper and lots of garlic powder and onion powder. I cooked them in the oven in an inch or two of chicken broth. In the sauce I added a dash of cayenne pepper and a little bit more spices than the recipe called for. I also added regular chicken broth instead of the broth that was from the chicken. I layered the casserole dish instead of mixing it all together and added a light layer of shredded cheese under the crackers. I used lots of crushed up crackers as well. I will definitely make this again and we have lots left over for lunch tommorrow!

Spinach and Strawberry Daiquiri Salad

Fantastic! Made it exactly as written. Loved that it was so easy to throw together. I found it a bit limey and plan on using a bit less lime juice next time.

Juicy Roasted Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2009
I made it exactly as described and didn't find it to be that great. There wasn't a lot of flavour. It was juicy, though that can be easily achieved by using an oven bag. I have to say that I won't make this one again.

Chewy Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies

I made exactly as directed, execpt used milk chocolate chips. These cookies did NOT turn out for me. They were too salty and had a weird salty bite at the end.
