About this Cook
I'm a blessed wife to an awesome man (who happens to be a chef) and mother to four wonderful children. We are a Christ centered household. After being servants to Him, we love and cherish each other,then our families and friends and so on.
My favorite things to cook
Hands down, I love to cook food that doesn't involve prepackaged, chemically laden anything. Hard to do sometimes,but doable for sure.I want my family eating fresh from scratch every chance I get. I'm not into canning, but we have a pretty good garden every year and it all gets eaten!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I come from and grew up in a 100% Scandinavian household. All I ever knew was that salt, pepper, and cardamon were the seasonings of choice-I had no idea what garlic was until I was an adult-honest! Now I have a world of spices and ingredients at home and I try to make my dishes interesting and full of flavor!
My cooking triumphs
Learning how to cook pork and poultry with out over cooking and drying it out. I've become the queen of leftovers in my family, and turning one leftover ingredient into a completely different meal. I've also become very adept at not having to read recipes more than once or twice to make them over and over. The biggest triumph for me though? Is being able to make an entire dinner without having to look up a recipe. I can look at a pound of BSCB and have 6 ideas in my head without cracking a cookbook or running to the internet..
My cooking tragedies
Most are too small to remember, but there were times I doubled up on baking soda and banana bread was so bitter. Thankfully nothing majorly bad had happened to me in the kitchen other than big spills-I am clumsy when I cook-lol!

Aunt Kate's Green Beans in Tomatoes
This was fantastic! My first time ever eating green beans "in" something! I'm not much into leftovers and I'm not too creative with food, but I had a lot of this left over. I turned it into soup the next day! I heated it up an hour or so before dinner. I added a can of chicken broth and some pre-cut chicken strips, s & p, and my husband (who is a chef) thought it was great. Reminded him of minestrone with out all the veggies. I highly recommend this to all!!!!
