Pizza Dough I

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2010
Very easy and tasty dough. I agree with other reviews that this is meant to be a simple dough. Must admit, though, that I add some extra garlic and italian seasonings to the flour mixture and salt, make a well in the middle and then add the water, sugar and yeast. Let it sit for 10 mintues while I prep the veggies, then ad the oil and mix. The yeast is activated and I can let it rise as a dough if I have time, or just pop it in the oven if in a rush. Still yummy.

Twenty Four Hour Layered Salad

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2008
I make this recipe every year for Thanksgiving, and look forward to this more than anything else. I do not use mushrooms, and you could add any veggies you like (i.e. broccoli, tomatoes). The dressing is the key, as is letting it all set for at LEAST a day. (Even better -- it's done before the meal crunch!)

Deluxe Waffles

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2007
The taste was good, but the batter was VERY runny. After a disasterous 1st attempt on my waffle maker, I added some extra flour to get the right consistency and thought they were great. Followed earlier reviews and added vanilla and cinnamon -- might try pecans, and substituting a reduced amount of butter for the oil the next time. Nice texture and flavour. An earlier review also suggested not using spray on your non-stick waffle maker b/c of the amount of oil....tried it, failed miserably, won't try it again! :o)

Apple Dumplings I

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2005
I wanted to find a recipe to make with my kids and their friend for a playdate, and thought this looked simple and easy. I substituted crescent roll dough for the biscuits, and used a little less water. It was really easy to make, and the kids thought it was great, but it was a bit doughy on the bottom and most of the flavor was on the outside. Next time I would toss the apples in the sauce with a little cinnamon before wrapping, follow another reviewers suggestion and cook for 10 minutes before pouring the sauce over to make it less doughy, and sprinkle some pecans on top. Quick, easy and "yummy" recipe.

Butter Icing for Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2004
Perfect icing with "Grandma Minnie's Old Fashioned Sugar Cookies." I have learned my lesson, and always read the reviews first -- took others advice and only used 1 tsp. vanilla extract. (Any more would have been WAY too much.) Quick, simple and easy to spread. THANKS!

Grandma Minnie's Old Fashioned Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2004
Excellent cookie dough recipe. My kids (5 & 2) and I used it for our cut-out cookies -- easy, fast, and had a great taste and texture. The kids helped make it, roll it, etc. without any problems. I have to admit that I creamed the butter, sugar and eggs, added the other liquid ingredients and then added the dry; it still seemed to be fine. Used with the recipe for "Butter Icing for Sugar Cookies" -- this is what we'll use from now on. THANKS!!!

Egg Free Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2004
My sons really enjoyed these cookies. We made these for one of their friends, who is allergic to eggs and nuts, and they have been disappearing steadily ever since! I used a mix of chocolate and butterscotch chips (check the labels to make sure they don't contain traces of nuts, if that's an issue), and a can of pumpkin pie filling instead of the puree (cutting back the cinnamon). I also used 1 c of white and 1 cup of brown sugar. Makes a chewier, flavorful cookie.

Fresh Strawberry Pie I

Reviewed: Jul. 25, 2004
Great pie. I know some people said the glaze got rubbery, but we let one pie chill overnight and thought it was much better once the flavours had set. We also added a layer of cream cheese (creamed with powdered sugar, some vanilla and a little almond extract), and used a shortbread crust. Since we had odd-sized strawberries, I sliced them all, and layer strawberries with glaze. It was a "picture perfect" pie, but VERY yummy.

Shortbread Crust

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2004
Quick and easy to make crust. I refrigerated the dough for a half hour before baking, pricked the crust on the bottom to keep it from "poofing" up too much, and added 1 tsp. of vanilla for flavour. Quick, easy and delicious. I agree with the previous review; it yields two crusts. Great with the Fresh Strawberry Pie I.

Mrs. Schaller's Sugar Cookies

Easy sugar cookie recipe for the kids. Cookies are light and fluffy (not a 'crisp' sugar cookie recipe) with a GREAT taste.

This is my favorite turkey recipe; very tasty! My husband wants me to make roast turkey just so I'll make this pot pie with the leftovers. Our toddler loved it, too!

Cheesy Green Bean Casserole

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2001
A really tasty side-dish, but I omitted the velevetta because I thought it was just a bit too much cheese for me. My toddler really like it, too!

I used grated cheddar cheese instead of the velvetta, and it was great. An excellent little side-dish, and my toddler loved it!

Charline's Sweet Potato Casserole

A good pie, but it's a little heavy if you're expecting something closer to pumpkin pie. Very creamy with a wonderful taste!

Spicy Bean Salsa

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2001
A good dip, but it has to be chilled for several hours or overnight; don't try to skip that last step, or it just doesn't taste as good. I added a little lime juice, cilantro and cumin.

Apple Pecan Cobbler

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2000
This recipe is great; so easy, and everyone I've made it for so far loves it. I usually put it in just before I serve dinner, so I can serve it warm with milk or ice cream.
