Merry Christmas to all the Buzzers and Bloggers!

This year has been filled with so many great and interesting recipes from this fantastic site. My favorite this year is a personal recipe from a member called Cheri. It is Iced Pumpkin Scones with a unique glaze to top it off. My least favorite...can't remember, selective memory ;)

Here is a recipe given to me by a dear TOH friend that I want to share with you. Consider this a money saving Christmas gift from me to you~

Sweetened Condensed Milk

1 cup powdered milk
2/3 cup sugar
1/3 cup boiling water
3 Tbs. butter

Combine the powdered milk, sugar, water, and butter. Blend in blender or mixer about one minute. Yields 14oz and is very similar to the a famous brand of sweetened condensed milk.

This year my paid membership was to end and I was thinking about letting it expire, but then I realized there is no way I wanted to battle the advertising popups, much as I would love to save a few dollars in this tight economy, the support of my favorite site without popups was worth it. I'm not much of a blogger so my paid membership is not to keep that feature but it sure is nice  when I want to have a voice and just share. Still waiting for a private message area but...all good things come to those who wait. Yes?

Well, I just want to wish you all another wonderful year of cooking successes and many happy smiling, well fed family and friends saying..."can I have that recipe?"

Merry Christmas. Thanks for the Christmas gift. If you haven't already done so, you should write that up as a personal recipe. May the coming year bring you more delicious meals.

Merry Christmas CIA!! Thank you for sharing this wonderful recipe. I made two desserts this Christmas that both required sweetened condensed milk - and actually needed more than I had on hand - - - if I'd just read your blog yesterday, I could have made my own. Trust me, I will copy this recipe for the future - - THANK YOU!! And thank you for your service for our Lord - Happy Birthday Jesus!!

Hope you all had a lovely Christmas and I must say our simple meal came out delicious thanks to Allrecipes. I used a ham steak with orange pineapple glaze that was so good, but at the same time so simple. Thank you all for stopping by my blog and wishing us Merry Christmas. You are an encouragement to me!

Is this instant powdered milk or non? I think i came across something similar on a Food Storage blog before. I wanted to try but it called for non and I don't know where to buy that. Sheesh! Canned milks are expensive now. Anyways, A Prosperous New Year to all!!

Hi First Lady, yes, it is the dry instant powdered milk. The canned stuff is so expensive, this recipe will make baking just a bit more affordable.
