About this Cook
I'm a wife and mother of 3 adopted children. I own a medium sized insurance agency with my husband who is a silent parnter). I've loved cooking since a very early age and learned everything I know from my German grandma who was a phenomenal cook and baker!
My favorite things to cook
I would have to say Holiday cooking is my Forte! Anything that involved new recipes and many people is my thing!! I'm almost obsessive about tryng new recipes and have never failed with a recipe that's 4-5 rated! No one in my family has ever eaten the same thing twice in my house!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Baking Christmas cookies with my children is a hand me down family tradition that started with my grandma. I normally start planning my holiday baking in early November. My kids each pick out a recipe, get their shopping list together and then we head to the store to buy what they need. Then I get to sit back and watch them bake while dancing to Christmas music - it's a blast!!
My cooking triumphs
I cooked a melt in your mouth prime rib on the first try!! $250 piece of meat serving 15 guests - I was a nervous wreck but boy did it turn out delicious!! I have now been dubbed the "Prime Rib" queen amongst my friends!
My cooking tragedies
I was trying to impress my future (now ex) mother-in-law with a homemade pot of chicken and dumpling soup. I still don't know what happened, but when I dropped the dumplings in, they quadrupled in size, globbed together and literally blew the top off of the pan. I had this gewy, gloppy mess all over the stove - at the time it was awful and terribly embarrassing! Now looking back on it,it wasn't so bad. It served her and her son right!!

I followed this recipe to the T and I have to say it was the most disgusting thing I have ever eaten in my life. I guess everyone to his own tastes and this is NOT mine.

Key Lime Cake III
This is one of the best cakes I have ever made or eaten!! Thank you Judy for the recipe! I didn't have Key Lime juice nor did my grocer carry it (???) so I just used regular lime juice and it was awesome! I made it for the 1st time this past weekend for a family get-together. It was gone which meant I had nothing to take home to eat as a snack :( but everyone raved about it. I replaced all of the oil with applesauce and it was excellent - moist, rich - just like cake should be. Thankfully, I have all of the ingredients in my cupboard and plan to make another one for my family (and me) tonight!

Ramen Noodle Salad
I stumbled across this recipe a year ago and have made it several times since. It's fabulous!! I've added chopped chicken breast and used it as a meal during the summer. It's so versatile. Making it again today to take to a church cook out. I can't wait to eat!! :)
