Baking Powder Biscuits

I am not a good biscuit baker! However, these turned out light, tasty, and slightly crummy. They didn't get golden brown on top, (they were sort of dark-orangish speckled), however, they tasted great and were nothing like hockey pucks--which my biscuits usually are. I followed the recipe exactly, using butter for the shortening. Thanks for a "can-do" biscuit recipe!

Easy Pancakes

This recipe is not very good as written. If you have time to read all the reviews or you want to develop your own recipe, perhaps this recipe works well for that. However, it should not be rated based on the changes.

Jenny's Black Forest Cake

This is just plain great chocolate cake. I've made many made-from-scratch chocolate cakes in my day that are worse than boxed cake. Not so, with this one. It's light, moist, and nicely chocolatey. I, too, used the recipe for the cherries from Black Forest Cake I from this site. And real whipped cream is a must. The combination is stunning.

American Lasagna

THE best lasagna I've ever tasted! And, it fits in a regular 9x13 pan, so you don't have to buy a new pan or plan for your meal flowing over the sides and ending up burnt at the bottom of your oven. Everyone I've given this recipe to thinks it's the best they've ever had. I do only make two layers, rather than three, because it's a lot easier to divide up evenly and get into the pan. I've even made this is a giant crock pot (without first cooking the noodles) and it worked beautifully there, too. Try this recipe! You can't go wrong!

Roasted Brussels Sprouts

Surprisingly yummy and addictive! Unless you have a great kitchen vent fan, be ready to have your house smell like brussel sprouts for quite a while afterward!

Summer Rainbow Salad

Let this sit in the fridge for 24 hours!!! I made and served it yesterday and it was just OK. The flavors were a little rough and it wasn't much of a hit. This morning it is absolutely FANTASTIC! I am eating it right now with Stacy's Simply Naked Baked Pita Chips and it is divine! (Oh, I did add about a tablespoon of honey to it yesterday to tone down the lime juice.)

Soundview Crab Salad

I stopped adding crab to the sauce mix when it seemed like it was going to get too dry...and I ended up only using about 1/2 pound. Next time I would cut the dill and cayenne in half since they stood out and detracted, a bit, from the overall flavor. We really liked the recipe, it just needs a bit of tweaking.

Missy's Candied Walnut Gorgonzola Salad

We all loved this salad. It's so simple to make--and can be kept exactly the same or changed to fit your personal preference, current grocery supply, or whatever. I used dried cherries instead of cranberries and it was delicious!

Curried Cashew, Pear, and Grape Salad

Everyone loved this. The nuts were the biggest hit, followed by the dressing. I cut the curry powder and cayenne in half because I'm a spice whimp. Folks commented that the nuts are good enough to make and serve as a party snack all by themselves. Thanks for sharing this recipe!

Aussie Works Burger

My husband's comment was, "This has got to be the absolute WORST meal to eat on a first date! You can't talk while eating it, you don't want to look at anyone else while they're eating it, and you don't want anyone else to look at you!" :o) As other's have aptly noted, the sheer height of this burger is overwhelming--as is its juiciness. However, it has a cacophony of flavors that somehow come together to taste great. I wonder if you could combine many of the ingredients into a bit of an "Aussie Salsa" (pineapple, tomato, relish, beets, etc.)so the overall height was diminished. I think I'll try that next time.

Barbeque Chicken

Good. As others have noted it is more of a barbeque broth than a typcial BBQ sauce. The flavor is good and the chicken is nice and moist. (I, too, used chicken breasts.) The broth goes nicely with mashed potatoes if you make a double recipe of it.

BBQ Glazed Homemade Meatballs

We all loved these meatballs. Just a shade too much liquid smoke for my taste so next time I'll use a tad less. I baked half the recipe and fried the other half on the stove for a quicker meal. Both were good--the baked were better. Thanks for the post!

Bill's Sausage Gravy

My husband is the biscuits and gravy connoisseur in our family. He said this was excellent, but not quite to the outstanding level. However, he also added, "Feel free to continue making this recipe 'often' while you work out what little thing is missing!" :o)--UPDATE--Here is what he says makes it the "world's best". I use regular Jimmy Dean sausage and follow the directions exactly. Then, I add two pinches of cayenne pepper, 60 twists of freshly ground black pepper (from a McCormick disposable shaker), and a swirl of maple syrup just before letting it simmer. Delicious! Of course, the thing that puts it right over the top is fresh, homemade biscuits!

To Die For Blueberry Muffins

These muffins are unbelievable! The batter was thicker than I expected, but the muffins turned out moist and delicious. The crumb topping completes it perfectly. I made the 8 jumbo muffins and had to cook them for 40 minutes--but that could have just been my oven.

Roast Leg of Lamb with Rosemary

Best Formula Three-Cheese Fondue

This was divine! It took other reviewer's advice and used Sauvignon Blanc and 1/2 tsp. of lemon juice. My local grocery store stocks a depressingly weak variety of cheese so I had to substitute an obscure Norwegian cheese for the gruyere. It still turned out fabulous. Thanks!
