I have loved to cook since I was a little girl. At one point, I had made up my mind to go to culinary arts school - but life kicked into overdrive and never got the chance to. But I've been cooking at least 2 to 3 meals a day for the past 24 years. I've tried everything at least once it seems like. I'm not that picky - I just stay away from green bell peppers. I do like the other colors - the green ones are just too overpowering to me. I joined this when I was still working as a landscape designer. Now I'm on Social Security Disability - I can cook whenever I feel like it now, no matter what time of the day! LOL. Most every recipe I have tried from here has been great. I also love the two cookbooks I have of theirs! I have one 20+ son who also likes to cook (I'm going to take the credit for that). I would love to see him go to culinary arts school since I never made it there. You can find me on here, pinterest, facebook, myspace and twitter. Happy Cooking!
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook everything!! Meat, vegetables, desserts, pasta, etc. Just not those disgusting green bell peppers! LOL (but I will always replace it with a red or orange one!)
My favorite family cooking traditions
Hhmmm.....I'm not sure about that. My mother never LOVED cooking. She did it because, obviously, she had to. She fries alot of things, which I don't do. I'm not a big fan of frying much of anything. Okay, Okay....potatoes, but who doesn't like them cooked that way? ;) My mother makes the best beef stroganoff on earth in my eyes. She also makes an incredibly old recipe for a raisin cream pie that will knock your socks off - and I don't even like raisins! But that pie is my favorite! She refers to her cooking as country cooking. Not that I don't like that - I'm just not limited to that. I'm more adventurous when trying any new foods or style of cooking.
My cooking triumphs
Well, I'm pretty much known for my Italian cooking (even though, I'm not Italian - I'm native american!). My friends used to come over once a month for a girls night and I'd have the entire meal, from appetizer to dessert under control. I also make some ridiculously good muffins and considered opening up my own shop at one time. I love muffins. You can throw a variety of things into them to create all different flavors - from savory to sweet!
My cooking tragedies
Well, the only thing I can think of right now (and I'm sure there's been tons more, I'm just drawing a blank right now) - is when I first got married. I couldn't flip a pancake and I would always mess up hamburger helper (how could someone DO THAT? Well, I did). My cooking abilities have came from many years of using recipes and cookbooks. I'm glad I'm not reliant on that anymore, but I still enjoy looking at all the delicious sounding and looking foods! :)
