Aunt Johnnie's Pound Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2005
This cake won't disappoint! While someone else on this forum referred to it as "moist and light", I found it to be "moist and dense" (just the way I like it). Next time though, I will decrease the Almond Extract by a 1/2 tsp and increase the baking temperature from 300 degrees to about 325. At 300, it took an hour and fifty minutes in my oven. I will be making seven more cakes to gift to neighbors for Christmas!

Don't hesitate to take the time to make these ribs. My guests were amazed and continually stated that they were the best ribs they ever had! I agree.

Baked Ziti I

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2006
Excellent recipe! The only thing I did different was to substitute a 15 oz can of Sloppy Joe for that portion of spaghetti sauce. It gives my sauce a tiny bit of a tang that I like.

Glazed Meatloaf I

Reviewed: Jul. 20, 2007
Believe it or not; I served this to guests. After poring over all the fancy dishes, I thought that "plain old meatloaf" might be a treat. And it was a hit! They raved over it and talked about how long it had been since they'd had meatloaf and that they would have to have it more often.

Caramel Bread Pudding

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2007
Wonderful recipe. Very quick & easy. Served warm & drizzled with warm milk chocolate. Served to guests & they raved over it. I used a 2 qt casserole and the end result was a very thin layered pudding. Next time I will use a smaller dish to get a higher standing pudding. Thanks for sharing

Pumpkin Roll II

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2007
This was a very good pumpkin roll and certainly easy, albeit messy, to make. LOL...I'm a purist! I do EXACTLY what the recipe calls for, uh usually. I didn't know what "self rising" flour was but I Googled it and made my own. Wish that was the only hurdle...didn't have any nutmeg...used pumpkin pie spice but added extra ginger & cinnamon. I'm making seven more and WILL go out and get nutmeg. The filling, personally, I like a little more. Otherwise, thanks for sharing and I apologize for making "adjustments" but they were not planned!

Bacon and Tomato Cups

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2007
I combined all indredients except the mayonaise and cheese and divided it into four separate containers. In two containers, I used Extra Sharp Cheddar. In one of those I used Mayonnaise and in the other Ranch Dressing. In the other two containers I added Shredded Swiss and used Mayonnaise in one and Ranch Dressing in the other. So I ended up with: Shredded Extra Sharp Cheese w/Ranch Shredded Extra Sharp Cheese w/Mayonnaise Shredded Swiss Cheese w/Ranch Shredded Swiss Cheese w/Mayonnaise They turned out beautifully and they certainly tasted good. But frankly, I couldn't tell one from the other. My opinion is that they while they are good; they aren't as great as the reviews make them out to be. It's possible that my expectations were too high to begin with. I would definitely make them again but I wouldn't be as excited as I was to make these! LOL....I think this is just a case like when people rave over a movie and when you finally get to see it, you go, "It was ok." Thanks for sharing this recipe...

High Temperature Eye-of-Round Roast

Reviewed: Jun. 28, 2008
Well, it has my 5 stars too! My eye round was nearly 7 pounds. I cooked at 475 for an hour(my guests only like well done) before turning oven off. The doneness was perfect! It was tender & I wouldn't consider roasting any other way! I have just one question: Why did I learn of this recipe only when I reached 65? lol Oh and, I'm thinking now of getting a good slicer so that I continue to enjoy such great roast beef sandwiches--both hot and cold! I throw one of these in the oven every week. We eat cold roast beef sandwichs, hot roast beef sandiwches and give the dog about a cup daily. Every time I've made this it is absolutely perfect! Sometimes I can't believe that I'm actually getting these results considering I have a reputation for using the fire alarm as my timer!

Oven Roasted Potatoes

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2008
Everyone loves these potatoes! When I make them, I make up an extra batch or two of the seasonings to have on hand for the next time I throw these together. For some reason, it's very time consuming to open all of the jars!
