Easy Vodka Sauce

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2009
Very Very good. This was my first time making a vodka sauce and it was delicious. I served it with premade ravioli. The recipe made a lot of sauce so I froze the rest and plan to use it in a baked dish with Italian sausage. Thanks!

Patty's Mom's Black Bean Soup

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2009
Wonderful. I only used half the amount of Sherry and ended it in a blender to make it creamy. Very good. Yes its time consuming to make but its worth it. I even ate some for breakfast the next morning. I fried a tortilla, poured some of the soup on top and then placed two fried eggs on top of that with some cheese, tomatos and red onion. Awesome.

Baked Salmon Fillets Dijon

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2009
I'm trying to teach myself how to cook fish, and for just starting out this was a good recipe. Very simple, fast and tasty. I would add a bit more dijon than called for and I needed more than 1/4 cup of bread crumbs but other than that it was great!

Perfect Pumpkin Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2009
I didn't like this. Maybe it was something that I did wrong but I dont know what because I followed the recipe to the T. It tasted grainy to me for some reason. It wasnt the smooth pumpkin pie that I was used to.

Blueberry Buckle

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2010
Very good! I was a bit nervous at first because the dough was so dense when I was mixing it, but it turned out great. The sugar topping adds a lot to it. My only problem is that it took around 45 min for the cook time, but other than that it was delic.

Homemade Wonton Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2010
The wontons were wonderful and the shrimp were also excellent in it. The only thing I would change is to add the bok choy with the snow peas at the very end instead of before hand. I like the bok choy for the crunch. And also...the soup seemed to taste better the next day. So for you busy people out there this is a good soup to make on a rainy sunday and to eat during your busy work week. Wonton wrappers are in the produce section btw...it took me a couple grocery stores to figure that out!

General Tao Chicken

A pain in the butt to make but its the closest genreal tao recipe to chinese takeout. The fresh ginger really makes this dish taste great.

Pistachio Cake III

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2010
pretty darn good and I got a lot of compliments for its green color on St Patty's day. Very simple and moist. I followed the recipe to the T and it came out perfect. I didn't have any problems with it caving in. I think the key to good baking is that once you put it in the oven...just leave it alone! Don't mess with it or keep on opening the oven door. Once it cooled I made a simple glaze with powdered sugar and water. Very good:)

Broiled Tilapia Parmesan

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2010
My boyfriend liked the dish but I wasnt a big fan. I was so paranoid about over cooking the fish that I under cooked it. (my fault) But apart from that the topping just wasnt that great. It didnt get brown for me and the parm. tasted really grainy.

Ranch Dressing II

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2010
Pretty good...I took others advice and used a mixture of sour cream, buttermilk and mayo...along with a tsp of veg. oil for consistency. Iused the same measurments of spices but I think for next time I would use a little less dill, it was a bit over powering.

Wondeful. I made this to join another chinese dish that I spent a while making... and this simple soup stole the show. The ginger really gives it a great flavor.

Tom Ka Gai (Coconut Chicken Soup)

Reviewed: Oct. 15, 2010
I made this tonight and it was great! Like some of the reviews stated I used chicken broth instead of water and it turned out well. I added 1 tsp of lemongrass paste. No tumeric and no pepper. Toward the end I also added sliced white onion and some mushrooms with the cilantro...and about 4 TBSP of sugar. It sounds like a lot be it works. And finally.....shrimp instead of chicken! Add it during the last two minutes and it turns out perfect.

Blooming Onion and Dipping Sauce

Reviewed: May 28, 2011
Yum. I agree with some of the others about the coating. It is delicious but doesn't stick...so next time ill try dredging them twice. Perfect otherwise. Accidentally bought grated horseradish and not creamy horseradish...couldn't tell the difference in taste. Just make sure to mix the sauce ahead of time and let rest in the fridge so the flavors can mingle.

Coconut Macaroons III

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2011
I'm not a big fan of coconut but for some reason I had a craving for these today. They are wonderful!!! I followed the recipe to a T. I did cook them a bit longer to get that golden color. About 18 minutes. They are very soft when you take them out of the oven so don't worry if you think their not cooked enough...they harden a bit once the cool down.

Juiciest Hamburgers Ever

Reviewed: Jun. 10, 2011
I made this tonight and it was pretty good! I didn't use as much as much breadcrumb as the recipe called for...only 1/2 a cup. I was worried about some of the complaints of the "meatloaf" texture. Everything else stayed the same tho. Maybe an extra pinch of salt.

Honey Butter

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2011
yum! This was always on the dinner table when I was younger but with age I had forgotten all about it. I thought of it the other day...had it tonight with dinner...and it was so delicious that I didn't even want the rest of my food. Sit me down with a warm loaf of French bread and this butter and I'm a happy woman.

Green Slime Smoothie

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2011
Really great basic smoothie recipe! I omitted the water and added 1/4 cup of plain greek yogurt and then about 1/2 cup of non-fat milk. You can add more depending on the consistency you want. I add the yogurt and milk to make it more filling and to hold me over til lunch. I love this recipe because Im always so hungry in the morning and I usually gravitate towards heavy foods like pancakes or eggs and bacon. If you drink this you immediately feel better about yourself, its filling so your not hungry two hours later, and it makes you more cautious about the food you continue to eat throughout the day. And btw, the honey kills the spinach taste so dont be nervous or put off!
