Salisbury Steak

Reviewed: Feb. 12, 2008
Ehhhh...I was disappointed in this dish. I followed Ally99's directions and mine didn't turn out too well. The meat was nice and tender, the taste favored meatloaf a lot. The gravy just didn't do much for me. It had an odd taste to it. My kids wouldn't even eat the gravy on their mashed potatoes and thats not normal for them.

Creole Chicken I

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2008
Ehhhh....This came out pretty good, however, I did some tweaking! I used fire roasted diced tomatoes, added a cup of beef broth, a couple beef cubes, garlic, worcestershire, chipolte chili powder. I used chicken tenderloins and a whole pack of Healthy Choice kelbasa. It didn't have much of a flavor before this. Now, that I have more of a liquid based, I would add the rice to the whole pot.

Christmas Breakfast Sausage Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2008
I made two casseroles using this recipe! The first one I halved the for my girls. The second one, I also halved and used egg substitute (first time ever). The girls came out better looking but both tasted good! I was surprised that my girls liked it so much!!

Baked Teriyaki Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2008
Delish! I doubled the sauce, cooked and let cool. After cooling, I lined the bottom of dish with foil. I let 4 chicken breasts sit in the sauce until I was ready for dinner. Cooked at 375 for 40 mins. The chicken had a great taste and the sauce in the pan was great over white rice.

Slow Cooker Beef Stroganoff I

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2008
I too followed JillyBean14, with the exception of using 1.5lbs stew meat and beef broth instead of the water. I thought the gravy was great before I added the cream cheese. I was afraid it would not taste as good. But I was wrong, the sauce was fab! This will be a staple in our household from now on!

Cheesy Potato and Corn Chowder

Reviewed: Aug. 20, 2007
This was very quick and yummy!! I cooked the diced potatoes in the broth with a whole onion and celery stalk. I like the flavor, the girls are iffy about onions and celery, this way I can leave it out. I used one can of creamed corn and one can of regular corn. I omitted the chili's and used velveta mexican cheese. This was comfort food!!

Black-Eyed Pea Salad

Reviewed: May 11, 2007
Wonderful, really hit the spot! I did make a "few" changes....I used two cans of black eyed peas, one can drained and one un drained. I added a can of drained green beans and some red onion. I doubled the sauce and let it marinate all day. I put a cup of the marinated beans on a bed of lettuce and had an awesome low fat salad. Thanks!

Beefy Baked Ravioli

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2007
This made a great meal! Since it was the weekend, I had time to make my own sauce. However, this will make a great easy supper on any busy weekday. Common sense will tell you, if you do not like prepared sauce (which many do, hence all the brands and varieties) you may not enjoy this "quick" dinner. Dinner time is the most important meal because this is the one time most families come together. And I personally prefer the baked ravioli's over a McDonalds drive thru any day!

Burgundy Pork Tenderloin

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2007
My tenderloin didn't come out very well at all! There was no mention of covering with foil and the liquid evaporated.

Slow Cooker Chicken Cacciatore

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2007
I followed Kmilti's instructions, however, this dish didn't come out very good at all. I used frozen chicken and the turn out was dry and chewy, I didn't care for the sauce at all! My girls wouldn't touch at all, they wanted plain noodles.

Southwestern Egg Rolls

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2006
Very good!!!! I doubled the recipe, and wrapped the rolls tightly in plastic wrap before freezing. These went really well with Catherine's spicy chicken soup from this site.

Catherine's Spicy Chicken Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2006
Very Good! I only made a few changes, first I halved the recipe. I used black beans instead of chili beans and I tossed in a whole onion so I could get the flavor without the onion pieces. I left out the salsa since I have little ones. This soup was great and went really well with Southwestern Egg rolls from this site!

Jimmy Dean Sausage Treasures

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2006
My girls enjoyed these! I left out the onion and added cream cheese. This makes A LOT so I suggest you make these when you have leftover sausage. I ended up freezing 3/4 of the recipe for breakfast buritos. A dipping sauce goes good with them.

Amish White Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2006
This came out really good, however, I was worried in the beginning. I'm not a regular bread maker, so the directions had me confused. I wasn't sure how long to let the yeast sit in the water? Luckily, everything came out good with my judgements. I served it with cheese and chicken broccoli soup from this site!

Cheese and Broccoli Chicken Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2006
WONDERFUL! My only addition, was about 8oz of velveta. I sarted the broccoli cooking in the water along with the chicken seasonings. After about an hour, I added the velveta along with some cut up chicken that I roasted the night before. Then I started the flour roux and added that at the end with the half and half and 3 cups of mild cheddar, medium cheddar, jack and colby cheeses. I served this with Amish Bread on this site and everyone raved! Thanks!!

Corn Casserole

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2006
This was very good! Nice change from the ordinary sides. Everyone here enjoyed this dish, espically dh, who doesn't even like cream corn went back for 5 or 6 helpings. I lose count on his return trips. My only change, was that I left off the cheese and brushed the top with butter and sugar a few minutes before taking it out of the oven.

Chocolate Caramel Candy

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2006
WAYYYYY TOO SWEET!!!! I didn't have a problem taking the candy out of the pan, however, it is rather thin and messy. We had to eat it with a fork, my girls who are big chocolate lovers, didn't even finish their small piece. I won't be making this again, but I would recommend that others try a graham cracker crust or something that allows this to be more manageable. Each layer tasted great as I was making it, but all together is just too much for me.

Incredible Potato Casserole

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2006
I enjoyed this dish, however, dh and my girls didn't really care for it. I had to use paper towels to get the grease off each plate. I used cream of mushroom with roasted garlic, and even then the dish needed more flavor.

Breaded Chicken Fingers

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2006
This is a definite keeper, ten times better then the restaurant style! I used two packages of Tyson's chicken ternderloins and marinated them for about 4 hours. This made a lot of chicken and there is only three pieces left!! DH ate a ton
