Fluffy Biscuits

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2007
These biscuits we're okay, but nothing to rave about. They had a slightly sweet taste, and although they were tender, they tasted a little bland to me. I probably won't make them again, just because I'm looking for those super fluffy, very tender, buttery biscuits. I did use shortening as called for, so maybe they would be a lot better with butter instead.

Slow Cooker Beef Stew I

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2007
I followed Corinne's modifications as I saw it would lend more flavor to the original recipe, and it was great! I used 2 cups beef broth and next time I will up it to 2 1/2 - 3 cups so the stew is a little more saucy (love to soak up the sauce with some crusty bread). This beef stew really hit the spot now that the weather's cooling off. My hubbie loved it too.

Peanut Butter Dreams

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2007
If I could have given this recipe 2 1/2 stars I would have. I followed the directions exactly and I came out with a clumpy mess. After mixing the butter, sugar and peanut butter together, the mixture was so thick that the rice crispies wouldn't stick to it, so as I rolled the balls, most fell apart. Then the rest fell apart as I tried to dip them in the chocolate. I'm not sure what went wrong, but I ended up with a bunch of little pieces instead of rolled balls. They do taste ok, which is why I'm giving them two stars... but there has to be a better recipe. Anyone that goes ahead on the recipe, I suggest trying three cups of sugar instead of four, or to press the mixture into a pan and make bars out of it.

Daria's Slow Cooker Beef Stroganoff

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2007
I also followed the review suggestions made by Sara and otherwise followed the rest of the recipe. I used eye of round steaks since I had them on hand, and they crumbled in the crockpot. Next time I will use a heartier cut of meat. Anyway, this recipe is awesome! I've been craving some good stroganoff and this hits the spot. I can't to feed it to my beef-loving husband. This will definitely be an addition to the regular rotation.

Slow Cooker Swiss Steak

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2007
Very good and very easy. I added some Worchestershire sauce and a pkg of onion soup mix in with the tomatoes and let the pot sit on low all day. The steak was tender and the sauce was perfect with mashed potatoes. ~~~Since my previous review, I've made this steak with and without browning the meat first, and I can't tell much of a difference. Now I just add some flour into the sauce mixture for thickening purposes and it's still awesome!

Awesome Roast Beef

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2007
I thought my mom made an awesome roast beef... but this one is even better than hers (shhh, don't tell her I said that!) I made this for the kids, hubbie and in-laws and everyone loved it, even the picky two-year-old. After reading reviews I added a pkg of dry onion soup mix and 1/2 cup of water, and also onions, potatoes and carrots to the crock pot and left it on low for about seven hours. The sauce turned into a nice gravy. I used an eye of round roast, and the meat came out so tender and moist, I will DEFINITELY be making this one again.

Rainbow Sherbet Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2007
Although this cake was very pretty, I just didn't find it to be that appetizing. I love angel food cake, sherbet and cool whip, but somehow all together, it just really wasn't that good. It was easy to make and it was pretty, but I don't think I'll make it again.

Marinated Barbequed Vegetables

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2007
Not the best recipe I've ever tried for grilled vegetables... The lemon was a little overpowering and after grilling, I thought it left a very acidic unflavorful (and I do like lemon) taste to the veggies. Others liked the results, but I don't think I'll make them again.

Grilled Marinated Shrimp

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2007
Very good marinade for the shrimp! Tangy, garlicky, with just a little tomato flavor for balance. I will definitely make this again.

Blackberry Cobbler

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2007
Very good and very easy... Please note that this IS NOT a rolled crust cobbler. If that's what you are looking for, there are many other great recipes on this site for that kind of cobbler. Personally, I prefer the doughy texture of this cobbler as opposed to the rolled crust of the pie. The crust soaks up the juices from the berries (which sink to the bottom) and it makes a rich, delicious dessert. Great with some vanilla ice cream!

Deep-Dish Blackberry Pie

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2007
MMMMMM! This recipe was spectacular! I'd been searching for a recipe for blackberry cobbler, and was having no luck until I came across this one. I doubled the crust ingredients and made a bottom and top crust. Next time I also may double the blackberry filling. Still the best recipe yet I've found for a delicious blackberry cobbler (or pie)!

Baked Salmon II

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2007
I thought this was an absolutely awesome marinade/cooking liquid for the salmon. It is perfectly subtle, as it gives a definite flavor to the fish, without completely masking it. Super easy (had all the ingredients on hand) and even my two year old loved it. Will definitely make again!

Wisconsin Bratwurst

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2007
I couldn't find fresh bratwurst, so I used the packaged cooked ones, and boiling them in the marinade before grilling made them so tender and added so much flavor. I cooked the liquid down and the onions were AWESOME! Great recipe for brat lovers!

Amy's Healthy Fruity

Reviewed: Jun. 27, 2007
MMMMMM! What a tasty and healthy way to get in your servings of fruit! I like to pre-assemble the ingredients the night before and make this for breakfast. Like most reviewers, I've left the soy powder out, and it's still great. I've also used blackberries instead of blueberries, and altered the ingredients due to the amount I've had on hand. Easy to make and worth a try! BTW for those that are interested, a 6" banana has 0g fat, 24g carbs, 1g protein and about 90 calories.

Easy Fried Spinach

Very yummy and very easy! Watch how much oil you use cause it's easy to overdo it and have greasy spinach.

Roasted Garlic Grilled Vegetables

Good recipe... I've roasted them in the oven as well as on the grill and they're easy either way! Great way to use up spare veggies.

Pretty good recipe. I drained off some of the fat and added a little vinegar for personal preference.

Baked Swiss Steak

Reviewed: Jun. 4, 2007
Very good recipe, exactly what I was looking for... I added a couple cloves of garlic to the sauce for personal preference... YUM! Also, don't know if it was just my pan or steaks or what, but after 1 1/2 hours, the steak kinda dried out. Next time, I'll start checking around an hour.

Chocolate Cobbler

Reviewed: May 26, 2007
I honestly would have given this recipe three and a half stars, but since that's not possible, I've given it the benefit of four. I've had similar desserts in restaurants, and this one doesn't quite make the mark. Although it is good for a chocolate fix, this is not the decadent dessert I was looking for. It would make a somewhat striking appearance next to standard desserts at a potluck dinner, but I think the ingredients need to be tweaked to be closer to a restaurant dish.

Shrimp Scampi V

Reviewed: May 19, 2007
Super fast, super yummy recipe for quick shrimp scampi! Great way to save time and money versus going out for dinner, without much compromise on taste... I used chk broth instead of wine (had none on hand) and upped the garlic for personal preference. My boyfriend and I both loved it. Definitely making it's way into the dinner rotation... Oh, BTW, several of the negative reviews of this recipe mention altering the amt of lemon juice, which isn't in the recipe... maybe they reviewed the wrong one?
