Clone of a Cinnabon

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2008
These cinnamon rolls are absolutely fabulous! I had to let the rolled & cut rolls rise a little longer than 30 minutes to fill up the pan. Next time I will bake them at 350 and start watching them around 15 minutes. They came out fine, they were just a little more browned than I prefer. Thanks for sharing!!!!

Marshmallow Treats

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2008
Great basic recipe for krispy bars! You can add in anything you want, or change the cereal to chocolate or fruity krispies... This recipe in a 9x13 pan makes bars less than an inch thick. If you're wanting really thick bars, a 9x13 pan could easily hold a double recipe.

Albondigas Soup I

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2008
We were in the mood for soup and I just happened across this recipe! It is awesome! I used chorizo sausage and my meatballs came out really sticky and hard to roll, so maybe that's why. I wanted to put it in the slow cooker, so I simmered the meat balls in a pan with 2 cans beef broth, skimmed off the fat, and added it to the rest of the ingredients in the slow cooker. I let it cook around 6 hours on high and it was awesome. I added cooked rice to the bowls of soup as I was serving them, and topped it with some cheese and tortilla strips! Yummy!

Slow Cooker Taco Soup

Reviewed: Aug. 15, 2008
This was an awesome recipe!!!! I only used one can of beans (the hot kind), drained the corn, and used 1 1/2 packets of taco seasoning. I also used canned tomatoes packed with garlic. I didn't add any extra water because we like our soup thick. I topped it with cheddar/jack mix shredded cheese, sour cream, chopped raw onion, chopped serrano peppers, sliced avocado and hot tortilla chips! Delicious! The only thing I will change is to only use 1 can of tomatoes next time.

Cheesy Ramen Noodles

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2008
I don't know how many years I've eaten this... and to find it on AllRecipes makes me feel a little better, LOL! My husband makes fun of me for eating it, but hey, when you have $10 to buy a weeks worth of groceries and you only have a dorm frig, this is some great stuff. I still eat it when I want an easy meal. I'm not a big fan of American single slices, so I like to add shredded cheddar. I also like to stir in an egg when the water is boiling... kind of makes an egg drop soup type dish. I lived next door to some students from Hong Kong who ate the same stuff, only they put cut up hot dogs in it too. Not a hot dog fan, but hey... if you like it!

Homemade Black Bean Veggie Burgers

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2008
I followed the suggestions of other reviewers and still had trouble with the burgers falling apart. They were still good though, and tasted much better than store-bought veggie burgers.

Grandpa's Classic Coney Sauce

Reviewed: Jun. 28, 2008
This was exactly what I was looking for!!! As other reviewers have mentioned, this is not chili. I omitted the sugar, used cider vinegar, and cut the mustard down to 1 Tbsp for personal preference. It doesn't look like you will have enough sauce when you first add everything to the meat, but after it cooks for a few minutes it's perfect. It's a tangy, slightly sweet, great sauce to spice up your hot dogs!

Dark Molten Chocolate Cakes

Reviewed: Jun. 7, 2008
MMMMMMMMMM! I was craving chocolate and just made these cakes, and they are awesome! I followed the instructions exactly except that I used a 6-cup muffin pan instead of souffles. The recipe made exactly 6 cupcake sized cakes. I also only baked them for 10 mins and they came out perfectly with a gooey center. Will DEFINITELY make again!

Penne Pasta with Spinach and Bacon

Reviewed: Jun. 7, 2008
I made this for my mom for Mother's Day, and she really liked it. I thought it was a bit on the bland side, but she doesn't care for highly-seasoned foods. It was perfect for lunch on a warm day: more filling than just a salad, but not too heavy. Thanks for sharing this recipe!

North Carolina-Style Pulled Pork

Reviewed: May 26, 2008
This was absolutely great! My hubby and I both love pulled pork, but hate the kind drowning in thick, sugary sauce. I used a pork loin roast, used the rub and chilled it overnight. I also made the sauce a day ahead of time, and it was much better the next day. I cook the roast wrapped in foil in the crock pot for 6 hours on high, then shredded it and put it back in on warm. I stirred about a quarter of the sauce into the pork, then served the rest on the side. This sauce is GREAT: tart, tangy, spicy with a faint hint of sweetness. I wouldn't increase the sugar, but I guess that's my preference. This recipe is definitely a keeper, and probably the best pulled pork I've ever had (restaurants included). NOTE: wait until after you cook the pork to take off the fat. You have to let it cool for a bit before you, but the fat adds a lot of flavor and keeps the pork from drying out. Plus it's a lot easier to take it off after it's cooked.

Low-Carb Chocolate Swirl Cheesecake

Reviewed: May 17, 2008
I wanted a low-carb cheesecake, and chose this recipe because of the reviewers listed on the front page. Some said that there was no hint of a "sugar-free" taste, which I totally have to disagree with. I used Splenda for the recipe, and it still had a very strong, bitter after taste. My husband and I were craving cheesecake (we're both low-carbers), but neither of us could finish our first piece the next day. I put the rest in the freezer to pass along because I hate to waste the whole thing, but we won't be eating it. I guess it is worth mentioning the plain filling did taste better without the chocolate. Maybe it's the real sugar in the dark chocolate that makes the artificially sweetened cheesecake taste so bad?

COOL 'N EASY® Strawberry Pie

Reviewed: May 4, 2008
Very easy recipe! I took two of these pies to a cookout at my husband's friends house and everyone liked them. My husband isn't a big fan of strawberries and he liked it too. I used store-bought strawberries that weren't all that sweet, so I sprinkled them with sugar and let them set until it melted in. Turned out really good. This is great for a cute & tasty dessert when you don't have a lot of time to cook.

Ronaldo's Beef Carnitas

Reviewed: May 2, 2008
Pretty good! I was looking for the Mexican restaurant style carnitas and this wasn't it, but it was still pretty good. I used a pork loin roast and cooked it in the crock pot for about 6 hours. The seasonings taste very similar to a pack of taco seasoning, which I was a little disappointed about. Still a very good dish for what it is.

Teriyaki Pulled Pork Sandwiches

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2008
I'm giving the recipe three stars because I had to make a lot of adjustments, but the end result was very, very good. I used pork loin roast instead of shoulder to keep down the work of having to pick all the fat out of the meat. I did cook the meat in the pineapple juice and teriyaki sauce as directed, but by the end of the cook time, the juices were clotted with fat and swimming in grease... not a very good taste in my opinion. I trashed the cooking juices and started over with the sauce (which I made from teriyaki, lime juice, brown sugar, and a little ketchup and cider vinegar). The end result was very good, lots of left overs that my husband nearly ate by himself. A premade teriyaki sauce (like Kikkoman baste & glaze) would have worked well too, but didn't have any on hand. Still worth a try if you like teriyaki pork.

Janet's Rich Banana Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2008
I lost my grandmother's recipe for banana nut bread, and this one seemed very similar so I tried it. WOW! I doubled the recipe to make two loaves and I'm glad that I did. I did replace half of the white sugar with brown sugar, added an extra banana (which I mashed) and doubled the nuts. Excellent recipe, definitely a keeper!
