My favorite things to cook
Decadent desserts, spicy curries, foods incorporating nuts and/or teas, and anything I can share with a large group.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Deep South Pecan Pie on Thanksgiving, Southern Living King Cake at Mardi Gras, My mom's BBQ Shrimp
My cooking triumphs
My original recipe Rooibus Brulee Pancakes are just about the most impressive brunch dish I've ever had, and everyone I've served them to agrees so far. I've also been dubbed a "cookie genius" for my chocolate chunk pecan cookies.
My cooking tragedies
My first time making a pasta sauce made based on pureed fresh spinach, I didn't realize just how thoroughly those greens needed to be washed- the whole dish was gritty.
