Roasted Chestnuts

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2006
Great recipe. I peel the hot chestnuts with my heavy garden gloves on and the task goes pretty quickly.

Herb Batter Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2010
I made this in my bread machine, basic white bread setting, and it turned out perfect. I omitted the parsley (none on hand) and added garlic powder per other reviewers. It sliced easily.

Colonial Hot Buttered Rum

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2011
This is amazingly good and will be added to my "keepers" list. I used Blackheart spiced rum.

Sourdough Starter II

Reviewed: Oct. 22, 2011
This is the first starter I have tried and it was super easy. I have had this starter going for a couple weeks and it has given me many wonderful loaves of bread (used the San Francisco Sourdough recipe) and looking forward to more. I used part white and part wheat flour.

Figs and Toasted Almonds Brie

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2011
I used walnuts instead of almonds, another great flavor combo. This is very easy to make! Make sure you have the figs prepared before starting the sugar, it melts pretty quickly. I wasn't a fan of the brie but plan to make the topping to go over ice cream or custard.

Whole Wheat Honey Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2008
Of the several recipes I have tried in my bread machine, this is the one I keep coming back to. The flavor and texture are just perfect. I don't ever have powdered milk on hand so I just use about 1Tbsp of regular milk in place of 1Tbsp water.

Glazed Apple Custard Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2006
This pie was a big hit at my last party. The consistency was strange though, perhaps because I've never made custard before? The apple topping and glaze were so good I may make them as ice cream toppings.

San Francisco Sourdough Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 22, 2011
I have made this several times and it is amazing. It slices well for sandwiches or toast, and it tastes great every time. I did not have luck using the dough setting on the bread machine, guess it does have to be hand-kneaded, but it's actually pretty fun. I used the "Sourdough Starter II" recipe from this website for the starter.

Vegetarian Quiche

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2009
This came out perfect and delicious! I used only onion, tomato, and zucchini for the vegetables, replaced the Parmesan with feta, and used 4 eggs instead of 5. Easy to put together and came out great on the first try. The curry/cinnamon combo is a winner.

Cherry Almond Coffeecake

Reviewed: May 10, 2010
I used lemon cake mix because it's what I had on hand so that may have been the problem, but this tasted like a cake version of fruit loops. It was still good in a strange way but definitely can't be called a coffee cake.

Never Fail Pie Crust II

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2010
Very easy and delicious. Makes more than 2 crusts. I followed another's post and halved the recipe, using the whole egg and less water. Baked to a beautiful golden brown. It is a heavier crust, and I'll probably use less shortening next time. Recipe is a keeper.

Peanut Butter Chicken Skewers

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2010
I love the flavor of this sauce; even better with crunchy peanut butter and a little extra red chili flakes and ginger. I used half the sauce (reserving half for dipping) on three large boneless/skinless chicken breasts in a frying pan (covered, 10 minutes on each side), and served with coconut rice and sliced mangoes. The frying pan is much easier than cleaning the grill, and the chicken comes out very moist. Have made this recipe twice and it's going into my favorites collection.

Grain and Nut Whole Wheat Pancakes

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2006
This recipe was fun to make, but the pancakes were very heavy and not fluffy like I hope pancakes will be. They were very good cold as a snack, not so much hot for breakfast.
