Green Salad with Cranberry Vinaigrette

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2005
Made this as written but found the dressing very tart and bitter. Definitely needs less dijon mustard and/or the addition of sugar. I think if I follow some of the recommended modifications I'll have a wonderful salad.

To Die For Garlic Feta Pate

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2006
Sorry, but I don't quite get the rave reviews. I wanted to enjoy this because I love feta and I love anchovies. But this just didn't do it for me.

No question - this is a great sandwich! I couldn't find sourdough bread so I used ciabatta. It came out super!!

Tri-Mustard Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2006
This was a wonderful addition to my Easter meal. The trio of mustards complemented the ham beautifully. Much to my husband's dismay, there were no leftovers, so I'll have to make this dish again very soon. Can't say enough about it - it was just so good!

Tangy Turkey and Swiss Sandwiches

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2006
These have been a consistent hit with my family and friends. If you're going for a gourmet taste make sure to use a good mustard and a good artisan bread.

Shrimp Scampi Bake

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2006
I had to make a couple of changes and this recipe still turned out excellent. Since my supermarket didn't have fresh shrimp I had to use the frozen cooked shrimp (I defrosted them by allowing them to soak in cold water for about 10 minutes). I also used more garlic than called for because we LOVE garlic. I reduced the baking time to ten minutes. Well, it was fabulous! The mustard and the lemon gave it the perfect flavor. I would not hesitate to make this again. Not only did it taste great, but it's easy and takes no time at all to make. Everyone in my house was thrilled with it.

Bordelaise Sauce with Mushrooms

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2010
This was sooo delicious! I didn't have fresh thyme so I used dried. I don't think the recipe suffered at all. I also doubled the recipe for the crowd I was feeding - wish now that I'd tripled it. Everyone wanted it for their baked potatoes, too.

Best Ever Party Appetizer

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2006
Wow! I served this at a house party and was surprised to see only a few guests go near it. Too strong? Too adventurous? Well, my husband did complain about my breath for the next 24 hours. I think it's fabulous!

I've never been very good at making cookies but these turned out fine. I was even happier that everyone liked them and they all got eaten.

Brie Cheese Appetizer

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2006
Made this recently and everyone gobbled it up! I added the shaved almonds per other reviews. It's best when it cools down and is almost room temperature. At that point you can really taste the wonderful flavors. Great recipe!

French Cafe Summer Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 1, 2006
This was very good, but the quantity is huge. That wasn't a problem for us because we just continued eating it through the week. Still tastes good the next day although the potatoes do get soggy. The other vegetables stay crisp. As good as this salad is, I think the dressing needs some zip. I may tweak it with some vinegar next time I make it.

Not sure where I went wrong, but in my hands this recipe went right down a bad alley. No one ate more than a couple of these, and I nearly set my stove on fire.
