About this Cook
A little over a year ago I moved from Upstate NY to WA state. I am still getting us to things on 'planet Washington' I use to have a small cateering company and cake decorating business. Not sure if I will try to do it again. Meanwhile I just cook and bake to relieve stress.
My favorite things to cook
Love to try new things, chinese food, american dishes, cakes, desserts. I just got a new book about special desserts (the really fancy stuff) that I am thinking of working my way a week or so.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My grandmother was a fantastic cook/baker and she taught me everything I love to do. Christmas was the best time of year. Between Thanksgiving and Xmas was bake cookie time. We made dozens for friends, neighbors, strangers :) I still have probably 200+ cookie cutters.
My cooking triumphs
Learning to make really good bread. I never tried it till recently and I love so many of the recipes I've found.
My cooking tragedies
Probably gravy. It's always hit or miss for taste and feel.

Paula's Bread Sticks
These were great!!! I did opt to make them italian, no seeds just italian spices and a touch of garlic but they were soft, stored well and even my very picky daughter eat 3 of them. Thank you.

Sweet Banana Bread
This is amazingly good. We all like banana bread and the ones I've made before tended to be dry and not really liked by my kids. This one was moist, just sweet enough and tasted great the next day (for the three hours it was still there). The instruction to cover it at the end with foil is a good one, if you do that it comes out perfect. I will make this again, and again and again.

Cola Pot Roast II
Amazingly tender and yummy. I used different veggies and some garlic spice but it was perfect. I cooked it in the crock-pot for 5 hours, one hour on high the rest on low. It filled the house with a wonderful smell
