About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
Exotic and aromatic dishes are tops with me and my family. I love preparing unique dishes my guests (and I) have never tried. I'm not afraid to take chances! My favorite dishes come from Greece, Morocco, India, and Mexico, and the spicier the better!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Grilling meat anytime it isn't raining or snowing is my family's preference, as long as the rub mix is flavorable, and there is a good sauce complementing it.
My cooking triumphs
I make a great baklava which I can't post because it's from a recipe book, but I love the look on my guests' faces when I serve it. I also have a carrot cake, refined through the years, which I'll have to post here soon! A lot of my triumphs lately have come from this great recipe site-- what a wonderful bunch of cooks there are here!
My cooking tragedies
Everytime I get lazy and bring out some canned or frozen pre-made dish, my family dives into a funk. I will never present canned Chinese food or soggy corn-on-the-cob from frozen again!

Spaghetti Sauce II
Delicious! I didn't feel like shopping, so I looked for a spaghetti sauce to match the ingredients I had on hand, and this was the closest. The only change my cupboard demanded that I make was to use a 14 oz. can of diced tomatoes and a 14 oz. can of tomato sauce instead of the paste. And it turned out great! I was also short on time and simmered it for just over two hours instead of three which didn't seem to be a problem. I threw in some frozen meatballs during the last 30 minutes and of course topped it with freshly grated parmesan cheese. My husband loved it and even got some more to dip his garlic toast in. Thanks for a yummy, easy spaghetti sauce recipe. I guess I've doomed myself to cooking it from scratch from now on!

Picadillo
Nice version of Picadillo. I enjoyed the inclusion of toasted almonds. We actually savored it more the next day as leftovers with pita flatbread. Thanks for the recipe!

Green Chutney
I served this with a beef curry dish along with Indian spiced cabbage and chickpea curry. It complemented all three wonderfully! The brilliant green color also dressed up the plate. Thanks for a unique way of adding cilantro to an Indian dinner!
