About this Cook
I am the wife of a wonderful, patient, brave man, the mother of four children by birth, and the host mother of 2 so far through foreign exchange.
My favorite things to cook
Bread, bread, and more bread! I love trying to create foods from other countries and enjoy the tastes along with our students.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My kids start to cook as small children. By the time they are 5, they are able to make their own breakfast and, now and then, create food to share with others. I got that "healing food" gene passed on from my mom. :)
My cooking triumphs
Brigadeiro! Yum!
My cooking tragedies
Too numerous to list. I will share that my sister and I, 9 years different in age, both thought we were following the same lemon cake recipe when we both, 9 years apart, left out the eggs. We both created...lemon bars. :)

Beth's Spicy Oatmeal Raisin Cookies
WOW! This is, hands down, the best recipe I have had for oatmeal cookies! I did use all butter instead of using some shortening, but that is a habit we have in our home. This will likely be the only oatmeal cookie recipe I will use from here out. Thanks!

Ah, even Luiz Fernando loved this one! My family, those little sweeties, prefer adding Quick rather than unsweetened cocoa. I do find that it takes more than 10 minutes of cooking to get the proper consistency, but Luiz assures me that his other mom, back in Brazil, actually pours a more liquid product into small cups and serves them with spoons at their family gatherings. Thanks for the recipe!

Brown Sugar Meatloaf
Hubby loved it! And if he loves it, it is worthy! I did change the sauce to the top instead of the bottom, but other than that, went straight by the recipe. Thanks so much for a change on an old family classic!
