Banana Crepes

Reviewed: Jun. 8, 2009
i wasn't a huge fan of the banana filling but I use these crepes with various other fillings and love them! The secret is the powdered sugar - it really makes it! suggested fillings: nutella and a bit of powdered sugar OR cinnamon and sugar (1:2 ratio) as much as desired and sprinkle on crepe. Squeeze fresh lemon juice over top of cinnamon/sugar and roll up to eat!

Creamy Rice Pudding

Reviewed: Jun. 8, 2009
Great recipe! I used rice milk in place of regular milk and had no problems with consistency or creaminess (but thats personal tastes). Only had left over basmati rice which worked alright too. I will make this again using short grain rice and a little less sugar as it was very sweet when warm. (the portion that was left in the fridge over night and that was not too sweet) so it depends on how you plan on serving it and what sweetness you prefer. also cinnamon is a highly recommended addition.

Creamy Beet With Dill Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2009
I decided to make this soup without the cream just to make it slightly healthier and and just used a little more water to thin it out [I also absolutely love the rich colour of this soup}. After blending the whole batch I poured most of it back in the pot but I left a small amount (1/2 cup to 3/4 cup) of soup in the blender and tossed in some roasted garlic goat Chevre (soft white goat cheese) and blended further. I used this as garnish poured into each bowl as the colors contrast well. It was a fabulous soup and I will definitely make it again.

Salmon Fillets with Creamy Dill

Reviewed: Sep. 28, 2006
This was super easy to make and it turned out fantastic! The mayo/mustard mixture on top really gave the dish its flavour. We served it with boiled potatoes and carrots; YUM!

Orzo with Chicken and Artichokes

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2006
This was a very delightful recipe. We had a difficult time finding ORZO but once we did I would not cook it with anything else. All of the ingredients mixed well with eachother - the artichokes, spinach, chicken, orzo, panchetta, and pine nuts combined together was sooooo tasty! For next time I think I will include a little more pine nuts and panchetta. Be careful not to overcook the orzo because it is liable to fall apart very easily.

Apple Pork Chops

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2006
This dish was ok. Something about the cloves on the apples baked on the pork didnt really mesh - the taste was nothing spectacular. Overall this dish is fairly easy to prepare and cook but it wasnt the best thing I've ever made.

Sharon's Scrumptious Souvlaki

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2006
This was pretty tasty. It was the first time I've used lamb, and it wasn't bad at all. I'm not sure if you can purchase de-boned cuts of lamb but I would suggest it to make it easier to cut into cubes. The yogurt sauce that you make is pretty good but I was hoping for something a little closer to tzatziki. Overall this is a fairly quick and easy meal to prepare - you can do much of the prep way ahead of time if you needed to.

American Lasagna

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2006
This was yummy! We used "oven ready" lasangna noodles which dont have to be boiled which saved some time. We made the sauce and cheese mixtures seperately and kept them in the fridge over night and just put it all together for dinner the next day. It turned out wonderful.

Tim's Green Bean Casserole Extraordinaire

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2006
This casserole was ok. I think that it would have been much better if mushrooms were included. I had a difficult time getting the consistancy right as it became quite doughy after adding the cheese but the addition of a little liquid helped thin it out enough to incoporate the beans.

Bread Pudding II

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2005
I charred the top so it wasn't spectacular. As the recipe says, make sure ALL the bread is covered well so that it wont get too crispy. Otherwise it was good, especially with some custard on top.

Fiesta Stuffed Peppers

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2005
I didn't read very well and cooked everything first but it turned out fantastic! I carmalized my onions, added some mushrooms and then beef with some spices. When beef was cooked i added half of the salsa and let it simmer for a bit. Becasue everything was cooked I had to figure out a way to soften the peppers (as this would have happend over the hour they were in the oven). So I just boiled some water and tossed them in for around 3 minutes. After draining them, I stuffed them put the rest of the salsa on top and heated them up for about 10-15 minutes. It was yummy. Maybe next time I'll try it the way the recipe says :)

Apple Cake III

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2005
I split the batter in half and used walnuts and brown sugar to top the cake (as described in the recipe) in the one and just the brown sugar mixture on the other, and I must say, I rather prefer this cake without nuts. It is a very moist and tasty cake, goes great with ice cream. If you are a fan of warm apple pie like me, you'll love this!

All Day Versatile Sauce

This was an excellent recipe. I added in flavourful brown mushrooms and ground beef (right at the start) as well as a little cooking wine, it was a very tasty dish indeed!
