Pecan Praline Cookies

Reviewed: Jun. 18, 2006
I couldn't see the point of adding lots of butter and sugar to ready made biscuits but was curious to find out why everyone seemed to like these. My boyfriend liked them, I ate a few but can't imagine making them again. They were a tiny bit soggy and you just know that it's butter oozing out of them. I don't find the idea appetising for some reason

Tiny Tarts

Reviewed: May 28, 2006
They were easy to make and I really liked them. I just rolled the dough between two sheets of parchment paper and cut circles with a wine glass - no hustle this way.

Beth's Spicy Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

Reviewed: May 28, 2006
I really like store bought oatmeal biscuits but have never been able to recreate them at home. These ones tasted fine, but were rather flat and crumbly.

Coffee Liqueur Ice Cream Pie

Reviewed: May 28, 2006
I am very proud because I made this pie with home made Coffee Liqueur and even made ice-cream myself. I used 5 ingredient ice-cream from this site, it makes exactly 2 pints, so I just added a couple of teaspoons of cocoa powder into 1 pint. It was even easier than with store bought ice-cream, as I didn't have to defrost it to blend in Coffee Liqueur. Very satisfying taste, though I would recommend using good commercially produced ice-cream for a creamier pie. And it is easy and impressive looking!

Raspberry Cup Cakes

Reviewed: May 14, 2006
I quite liked these, but the proportions of ingredients seem to be off - next time I would try with only half a can of condensed milk and more cream cheese (150-200g). I really enjoyed the fresh raspberry taste, but think that the taste of condensed milk was overpowering

Grandmother's Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: May 14, 2006
I might be the only one rating this recipe so low, but it didn't work for me. I wanted more oaty taste, they also turned out quite thin and grey. They were tasty, but not enough to make them again.

Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies I

Reviewed: May 14, 2006
I used half brown and half white sugar and might have used a bit more cocoa powder than needed. They were a real chocolate bomb, so rich even I couldn't eat more then one in one go. My friends ate them, but said they were just ok

Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie

Mine were really thin and flat, my fault of course for using twice the amount of egg by mistake! Still very tasty

White Chocolate and Cranberry Cookies

Reviewed: May 14, 2006
This recipe is exactly the same as the one my American friend gave me a couple of years ago, only it uses some more interesting ingredients. It might be the easiest and, who knows, best recipe for choc chip cookies I found so far. I used only 1/4 cup white sugar with good results, as white choc is quite sweet on it's own. The combination of white chocolate and cranberries is wonderful!

Austrian Chocolate Balls

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2006
They looked beautiful and I quite liked them, but my friend, who normally loves everything chocolaty, ate only one declaring that they tasted like these brown bars that taste a bit like chocolate and are supposed to be good for you. Actually he might be right but I still quite liked these. I reduced the amount of almond extract, added a bit of coffee liqueur to the glaze and glazed the cookies on the bottom side, as the tops looked so nice!

Irish Cream Macadamia Nut Pie

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2006
Very nice. I've never even seen anything like this before and was quite surprised. Everyone was a bit dubious about trying it first, but it was gone in a day. And as the other reviewers mentioned before, the amount of filling is enough to make even more than two pies. I had filling left and made mini pies which were great.

Mrs. Sigg's Snickerdoodles

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2006
This was my first time making biscuits and I didn’t even know what to expect but I definitely expected more. I found the biscuits very boring and tasteless. On the other hand, my two housemates ate the whole butch and kept on telling me how much they liked 'the little cinnamon things'. Boys…

Brigadeiro

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2006
These are tasty and extremely easy to make. I let them cool for 5 mins after cooking and then flattened the mass between 2 sheets of cling film and put in the freezer for 20 mins. They were easy to roll and looked pretty. I rolled them in cocoa powder, coconut, crushed almonds, and icing sugar.

Mocha Cigars with Coffee Cream

They are such cool things to make! And not that difficult at all. My mates vere really impressed and it was the first time I saw them fighting over the last one. Great recipe!

Marble Squares II

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2006
Brownies are my curse, I can never get them right. This recipe sounded interesting but didn't quite work either. I wouldn’t discard it though, because I think with some modifications it can be very tasty. Next time I will double the cream cheese mixture and use at least twice the amount of cocoa powder called for, as they were not chocolaty at all. I also added a bit of coffee liqueur and think it gave them a very nice flavour.

Roquefort Pear Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2006
Very tasty. We really liked the dressing (I doubled it) and even the avocado was a nice addition. My boyfriend absolutely hated candied pecans and was moodily fishing them out for 15 minutes. Nevertheless, since that time he keeps on telling me how good salads are and why don't I make this one again.

It didn't taste exactly like Baileys to me, but still verrry good and excellent in coffee. I used about 240 ml whiskey and half milk/half heavy cream

White Russian Brownies

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2006
For some reason I tend to produce disastrous brownies time after time. These were quite good though - the bits I cut from the edges I mean, as I baked for 35 minutes and it wasn't enough at all. I decreased the cream cheese layer by half and just added all the coffee liqueur to the batter - very nice flavour!

Mocha Mudslide Brownies

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2006
They tasted fine straight out of the oven, I added more alcohol than it called for and still they were not very boozy. The next day they consolidated into quite moist unappetising bricks though, brrr I didn't like these at all and won’t make again
