Savory Turkey Gravy

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2009
THERE IS NO FAT IN THE GRAVY!!!! Forget about DIET GRAVY gravy on Thanksgiving!! Now, if you were to add this recipe TO THE PAN DRIPPINGS, or add some butter or some kind of fat, if would actually be quite good. But gravy IS NOT GRAVY WITHOUT SOME FAT!!! (I KNOW this but since I WAS COOKING Thanksgiving and was just a little distracted from my 4 other sides, I just followed this recipe, and having smoked my bird, I did not have the drippings naturally on hand.

Linda's Lasagna

If you use ricotta you are not following this recipe. USE THE COTTAGE CHEESE!!! Don't let it scare ya. If you want a recipe using ricotta, there are several of those on this site. But I highly advise giving the cottage cheese a try; it is the ONLY way my mother ever made it growing up, and it could not have been better. ?

Pretzel Turtles

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2007
Ok, here is the deal. I couldn't find the choco covered caramels, so my husband grabbed reg. caramels. We had hershey kisses, we had the reg. caramels, and we had the caramel dove chocolates. so i made them w/the dove chocos and the square waffle pretzels and i also made a batch w/the reg. caramels on the waffle pretzels with a hershey kiss pressed into the caramel(pointy side dug into caramel, very easy to do...just take the caramel off the pretzel so as not to crush and push in) I topped each w/ a toasted pecan half. The dove batch took 2 minutes and the caramel batch took 4. And, I have to disagree with alot of reviewers, we LOVED the REAL caramel with the chocolate kiss so much more that the dove ones. They were chewier, they were much tastier and funner to eat. The caramel dove chocolates have runny insides so they don't give this a real turtle quality, though they are good....just not as good as a real caramel. (they don't set up as good either) Try this my way with a plain caramel and a hershey kiss. YUM!!! just don't be afraid to really push that pecan into the caramel when they are done, and let the chocolate ooze all over. Perfection.

Sweet Dinner Rolls

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2006
I put everything but the water in my bread machine, started mixing, then realized my mistake...put in the water late and these still turned out PERFECT!!! So, I would agree that this recipe is forgiving. I made 12 yes 12 JUMBO cloverleaf rolls and they were to die for! 10 min. @ 400 degrees was perfect for my oven and what a treat they were! I brushed melted but not warm butter on before baking. Thank you...these will be on my table every holiday, mabey every week!

Beth's Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2006
There are two pictures posted for these cookies...one is accurate, the other looks like pancakes made with very cheap margarine. If you follow the recipe, these cookies come out picture perfect and I happen to prefer them OVER the "Award Winning Choco Chip Cookies" that others keep reffering to. I love those cookies too but they are way way sweeter. This cookie is perfect in taste and texture in my opinion so to each her own. AWESOME !!! (people who complain you will find did NOT follow the recipe...this one is great!)

Mrs. Sigg's Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2006
Don't be fooled by the picture...I think someone got a little mixed up and that is a pic of choco chip cookies made w/margarine or somethin...NOT THESE! These are perfect, beatiful, extremely delish PB C's....not flat at all! (of course I rolled mine in sugar for a special touch, and also, didn't have butter so used shortening, plain kind but go figure I had some butter flav that I added to compensate.) Best PB C's our family ever ate!

Classic Cabbage Rolls

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2005
I've made these for a few years now. I have experimented a bit w/ the flavor of the sauce and I add vinegar to add some tang and so it is not too sweet. Try it, it is delicious. Not much, equal or a little more to the brown sugar. Also I have learned to definately use some V8 on top or they become too dry and harder to cut and eat. (Cabbage can actually become somewhat tough w/o enough liquid) These are definately a winner!

Sugar Cookies with Buttercream Frosting

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2005
I made the dough the night before so I could bake in morning. This I would not reccomend. This way the dough was like a rock and a little too hard to work with but I did not give up and warmed the dough up a bit and they turned out beautiful. I made 2 batches of the dough and you can double only the powdered sugar and flavorings on the frosting part to make more frosting, obviously adding more water/milk until you and your beaters feel that it is the perfect consistency for your cookies. You do not need to double the shortening. Delicious cookies, perfect cutouts. Don't let the dough scare ya!

Double Chocolate Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2005
This chocolate pie is evil on a plate, it is sooooooo sooooooo yummy. My husband made Christmas eve and had extra pudding in a bowl saved for mwa and I put whipped cream on and yes it is sinful. It would even be GREAT served in fancy glasses w/ whipped cream if you don't have pie shell, I can't decide how I liked it better. Don't change this recipe, why mess with perfection. For pie give plenty of time to set up.
